Author has written 14 stories for Are You Being Served?, Grace & Favour/Are You Being Served? Again!, and Last of the Summer Wine. How ya doin'? Welcome to my profile. I love to write. I always have. When I was little my grandmother used to sew together sheets of construction paper for me to write my own books. When I was in Junior High (for you old-school types) I started writing a book. I never finished it, but I still have it. I enjoy watching Britcoms. I started watching "Keeping Up Appearances" when we were stationed in Germany with the Army. We had German cable TV and BBC was one of the channels offered. When we returned stateside and I was working as a custodian, I saw my first ever episode of "Are You Being Served?". I had only seen a few minutes of it and didn't know what the show was until several years later when I bought "Keeping Up Appearances: The Full Bouquet" box set and was reacquainted with the crew from Grace Brothers. I enjoy several Britcoms including: Keeping Up Appearances Are You Being Served? Last of the Summer Wine Father Ted Porridge One Foot in the Grave I also like American TV Shows, but older ones like: Major Dad SOAP The Odd Couple Promised Land Boston Public CSI Las Vegas I first became interested in Fan Fiction quite by accident. I was looking for a particular quote from Are You Being Served? and it took me to this site. I enjoy a site dedicated to Are You Being Served? and there is a topic forum for Fan Fiction on that site. I wrote a few parts and then tried to publish on here. It took me close to 5 months to figure it out, but alas! here I am and I'm hooked. I feel like I am constantly tweaking my fan fic's as I am always running ideas through my mind. Right now I'm writing a lot of AYBS? fic's. I watch many hours' worth of episodes to try to keep true to the characters; I watch for mannerisms, quirks, and sayings. I also researched British slang and terms for my fic's so that I'm not putting American colloquialisms in my AYBS? fic. I hope I did a good job. Feel free to review. I have thoroughly enjoyed writing my fic's. I have enjoyed reading other people's fan fic's and look forward to reading more. I like to put "Deleted Scenes and Out Takes" in my Fan Fic's. These are ideas I have mulling round in my head and I write them down. Often they do not add or take from the story; they are like an aside, but I like them so much I keep them. I have fun with them. In some of the stories, the Out Takes are actually things that did happen in the show, but I've written it the way I would have liked that scene to go. Sometimes I keep adding or editing my fic's, I'll be sitting and mulling and I get an idea and then I'm fixing something. Sometimes a fic starts out as 500 words and ends up 1500 words just because I got an idea. The verbiage of Captain Peacock and Betty's younger daughter, Katherine, is actually an amalgam of several sweet little children I have had live in my home over the past several years. I listen to music while I'm writing. Sometimes it sets the mood for my writing; oftentimes the music just keeps me from having to listen to the keyboard clacking. | |||||||
