YO! I swear to god I didn't die! Just having major writers block, plus life has a funny way of getting in the way. CoR has been on hiatus for a long, long time, even before my last update in February. A&G is not exactly on hiatus... I've just reached the chapter I've been dreading--the dreaded Diagon Alley +shopping chapter! And the plot is getting to the part where it starts getting more involved and tricky, so please bear with me, k? I promise that one way or another, I will FIND time and motivation to have something up by A-Kon! That is my goal!  I have the chapter begun, but it feels quite forced... but I'll try my best!  Anyway, I'll try and keep this profile posted on my progress. Till then-- ja ne!

NEWS FLASH! I now have a myspace! If anyone wants to look me up on there, feel free to. I'm really not sure when the update will be up for this chapter. I already have part of it written, but now is when I'm finally going to be bringing in plot points. Add on the fact that I've recently kind of lost what exactly I was planning to do (I mean, I know a lot of the main points, but not what order or how I'm going to get there). I'm trying to get at least until after Harry's spar with the mystery competitor. I'll try to update this page when I get close to finishing the chapter.

Yo! People who are following this fic! I have an issue. And the issue is--I detest the writing in this fic. I reread it, and I cringed. That's right--cringed. So much is given away so quickly and the chapters are ridiculously short and... need I really go on? But I'm reluctant to rewrite. However, I'm also having a problem consolidating the differences in style and really I've given so much away I don't have much left to work with. However... I haven't given up all hope yet. I'm doing some plot storming, and I'm going to try bouncing some ideas off of Roy over spring break. I should be seeing her this Friday. So don't give up on me yet! However, if you'd be interested in a rewrite, I'd appreciate it if you'd let me know. Thanks for reading!

Arches and Gates:

Summary:

Ed and Roy both get pulled through the Gate and are immediately pushed into the war for the wizarding world! Both wizarding sides are confused, Ed's dimensional twin is a girl, and both alchemists find that their feelings for each other have changed HPFMA

Kasandre Flux:

Kasandre- Greek priestess of Apollo; beloved of Apollo and given the gift of prophesy. But when she spurned his affections he made it where she would never be believed. (the important part here is that she was a priestess. Priestess, Faithful... you get the idea.) Believe it or not, this isn't too strange of a spelling. If you don't believe me, google it.

Flux- Really don't know why I chose to use it... but I had just seen Aeon Flux before writing the story and figured it was as good a name as any.

Chronos Deathrage:

Chronos- Greek god associated with Time (self explanatory).

Deathrage- An interesting name on a tombstone I saw passing by the graveyard once on my way to school and on the way to a friend's house. I thought it quite ironic and it stuck with me. I've been dying to use it on someone ever since (no pun intended). Really, it has no meaning to the story whatsoever, like Flux.

The plot is intericate, though you may not be able to tell that at the moment. And I can promise you it is different from most of the other HPFMA fics I've seen. It may sound like I'm bragging, but I'm not. The scope of this story goes more in depth into the powers of magic and alchemy and other such matters. And I can promise you this- you will not be expecting it.

PLEASE NOTE: I feel that I need to clarify something concerning this story. Though it is a crossover, and the HP storyline will undoubtedly be fairly important IT IS NOT THE MAIN POINT OF THIS FANFIC. That's right, you heard me, the crossover portion is not the important part. All things being equal, I could have just as much chosen anything else from Die Hard (hmm... that's an interesting concept...) to Lord of the Rings. But as it sits, I'm a classic and total HP freak and know more about it than I do my nation's history, so I figured that would be the smart way to go. Plus, I'd been playing with the idea of an HPFMA crossover for a while so I decided to combine the two story ideas I had. Then other things got sucked in... now it's this giant monster lurking in the dark recesses of my brain. Either way, that being said, there may be things in this fic that seem totally out there and unreasonable. In fact, there are points that I'm really not sure how well they're going to go over with the readers. But here's what has crossed my mind on that and what my intentions are:

Problem: Mary-Sues: How does one define a Mary Sue? I'm sure most of us have heard of the Mary Sue Litmus test. If you haven't, I highly suggest you look in up. It is actually quite informative (and freakin' hilarious) and makes many valid points concerning character development and what to look out for in your own characters. However, if you've ever sat down to one of them and and done a test over canon characters that you know in fact to not be Mary Sues, you will understand what I mean when I say that the test is flawed.

Therefore...

Hypothesis: It is not what you write so much as how you write it.

Basically, I'm of the opinion that while certain traits are quite prominent and often are an indicator of a Mary Sue, it is not the trait itself so much as how you present it that creates the cliche, boring, excruciating character of Mary Sue. For instance, take damn near every single character in HP. They are almost all without fail named after either a mytholigical being or something else that gives insight into the character. Ding! Ding! According to the MSLT that's a big no-no and earns J.K Rowling 2 points on every character she did that with-- to a total of... at least 24 points! In fact, Harry Potter alone with the test earned a grand score of sixty! Edward from Full Metal Alchemist earned 63 on one version of the test, and that was with me not adding points that I thought would probably apply as well but weren't of absolute note. Does this make them Mary Sues? Hell no! What it makes them is archetypal and sometimes symbolic characters. There are just some things that always crop up in literature, and they always will, it depends on the skill of the author how they turn out.

ON THAT NOTE--I have decided to challenge myself and that litmus test. I intend to write my story as I will, even though the scores my stack against me. I intend to prove my hypothesis through my story. So be prepared.

Likes: English Sub Anime, reading, writing, fanfiction, religious and spiritual discussions (when open minded), said open mindedness, coffee (I had six shots of expresso today within an hour and a half), energy drinks (then I had one of these on top of it), chocolate, New Age section of the bookstore (I have a personal collection of these kind of books on my shelves), Latin, sushi (california rolls w/ crab meat), stir fry (I actually work at a stir fry place), Halloween, the music from FMA, Narnia, HP, LotR, Phantom of the Opera, Sarah McLachlan, Evanessence, Celtic Women, and Vienna Teng (I think that's how its spelled) and cats. Speaking of cats, I like Cats the musical. (For the record, after I had said six shots of expresso and an energy drink I got really, really ill. There is a reason that the legal limit on expresso shots per drink is 8. Therefore I do not recommend such an action to anyone. Especially as right now I'm being treated for an ulcer.)

Dislikes: Feeling ill (which is how I feel after all that caffeine), closed mindedness, voiced over anime (I may like it, but only if it's done well. And no offense to Vic (who I adore) and the gang, but the FMA voice overs suck), religious (or really any) zealots (muslim, christian, or any other... zealotry is idiocy), math (it is Satan), the tea machine at the campus cafeteria (it is Beelzebub), Latin (its a love/hate kinda thing). Update: The tea machine is no more! Beelzebub has been slain! w00t!

Obsessions: Harry Potter (this is my oldest), Full Metal Alchemist, Naruto, Death Note, Bleach, V for Vendetta, SG-1 (not as heavily as the others though), Yu-Gi-Oh, fanfiction, the RoyEd pairing, Boondock Saints (believe it or not, I actually started a Boondock Saints/HP crossover a while back. Yes it is completely possible to write a serious fic of this kind), coffee.

My goal- to have an entire outfit comprising of my obsessions. I'm already half way there- I have the State Alchemist pocket watch with the 3 Oct. 10 inscription, a Boondock Saints wristband, a pyramid w/ Eye of Ra necklace my friend made me for my Yu-Gi-Oh obsession, a Blood Seal shirt, an FMA flamel dog tag, and a HP wristband. What I have left to get- a V for Vendetta shirt, a Naruto forehead protector thingy. Once I have all of this, my goal shall be complete.

In addition I also have a Boondock Saints shirt that matches the wristband, and HP t-shirts.

Ok! I feel as if I have to brag... I'M GOING TO ANIMEFEST IN TWO WEEKS! AND I'M STAYING FOR THE FULL DURATION OF THE CON! Yup! 5 days and 4 nights in the wonderful Hyatt Regency hotel going to one of the big cons of Dallas! I went to A-Kon in June, but that was only for one day! I'M SOOOOO EXCITED!
