I'm gonna try to come up with an updating schedule that works for my stories. Writing is a cop-out. An excuse to live perpetually in fantasy land, where you can create, direct and watch the products of your own head. Very selfish. Reading usually precedes writing and the impulse to write is almost always fired by reading. Reading, the love of reading, is what makes you dream of becoming a writer. I learned that you should feel when writing, not like Lord Byron on a mountain top, but like a child stringing beads in kindergarten - happy, absorbed and quietly putting one bead on after another. It is not a bad idea to get in the habit of writing down one's thoughts. It saves one having to bother anyone else with them. One of the things that draws writers to writing is that they can get things right that they got wrong in real life by writing about them. Relationships are like glass. Sometimes it's better to leave them broken than try to hurt yourself putting it back together. I’ve done everything the Bible says — even the stuff that contradicts the other stuff! You don’t like your job, you don’t strike. You go in every day and do it really half-assed. That’s the American way. Here’s to alcohol, the cause of — and solution to — all life’s problems.
