Author has written 22 stories for Invisible Man, Greatest American Hero, StarTrek: Voyager, and Mighty Boosh. Update: I'll say what the slashers say: If you are offended by my stuff or opinions, don't read it. Let's not bother with one another personally. Let's agree to disagree and we can avoid each other and all will be well. I have unfortunately had to disable anon. reviews. If you would like to say bad things about my goofy light-hearted NEVER-claimed-to-be-exactly-like-the-Boosh fic, SILLY FAN FIC by admission because I express opinions over some other stuff out there, then you will have to do it to my face...er...you will have to at least own up to it and hear what I have to say in return. I have NEVER given ANYONE here a bad review on their story. If I don't like a story, I just don't say anything to that person. I request the same courtesy. I have written slash parodies in 3 different fandoms. I think a great deal of slash is silly, badly written and some of it in Boosh in particular is completely out of the character of the show. That's an understatement. Why is just about EVERY Boosh story is about Howard and Vince in some sort of sexual relationship? Am I the ONLY one who doesn't turn them into lovers? Here's the heart of it: Some of the Boosh slash is violent and horrific. How could you ever want to fantasize that something that sick happens to Vince Noir, who is a fairy-like beam of light? (not to be confused with dear Noel...who is a lot more complex!) How could you want a situation where Howard physically abuses Vince? How can you call that character development and about the H/V relationship and WHY are you calling it "Boosh" at all? Some of the Boosh slash fiction is simply an exhibition of mental illness. How would you feel if Noel or Julian read that sort of thing? Noel has already said he found a slash fic about Vince and Howard "disturbing" and the story to which he is referring isn't even that bad in the scheme of things. I've said my piece and you can put me down. Whatever. You're ill, I got that. Attacking me personally is another symptom. It's the NON-Slash people who need a haven! Profile: What? Me? I'm just here for the comedy. I've been a science fiction geek since I can remember. No doubt my first words were "Klattu barada nikto". For no good reason, I began writing this fan fic. Monsters from the Id, indeed! It all just started appearing on my computer screen and making me double over, wracked in derisive belly laughs. I therefore did what any other insane person in my place would do: I decided to foist it upon an unsuspecting fandom. Of the 8 or so people who’ve read these, most of them seemed to get a good laugh, and in the final analysis, when all is said and done, when the ships have come in, the chips have been counted and all the clichés and metaphors have been exhausted, that’s all that really matters. I am happy to contribute to the “Cult of the Amateur” a status recently reviled by a book of the same name by high and holy professional, Andrew Keen. Professionals are constantly restrained by producers, egos, actors, series bibles, script editors, deadlines, advertisers and the all-mighty bottom line. Really, it's amazing they ever get to do anything at all! Fan fiction writers are not restrained by anything at all. Perhaps we're not trained or disciplined, but we are free of the fetters that shackle the pros. There were a great many authors who were not professionals in their lifetime, who did not make a dime from their works or gain any recognition before their deaths! John Kennedy O'Toole and Lovecraft spring to mind. So, for once, let the common people have a voice and stop whinging about it already! Fan fic is here to stay and say, what of all those re-tellings of Arthurian Legends? Any money exchanged hands? Thanks for reading! | |||||||||
