"A good novel tells us the truth about its hero; but a bad novel tells us the truth about its author."
― G. K. Chesterton
“If you're a writer, write. And always strive for excellence.”
― Linda Yezak
“A little talent is a good thing to have if you want to be a writer. But the only real requirement is the ability to remember every scar.”
“Child, to say the very thing you really mean, the whole of it, nothing more or less or other than what you really mean; that's the whole art and joy of words.”
"Good writing is supposed to evoke sensation in the reader--not the fact that it is raining, but the feeling of being rained upon."
“Five common traits of good writers: (1) They have something to say. (2) They read widely and have done so since childhood. (3) They possess what Isaac Asimov calls a "capacity for clear thought," able to go from point to point in an orderly sequence, an A to Z approach. (4) They're geniuses at putting their emotions into words. (5) They possess an insatiable curiosity, constantly asking Why and How.”
Special thanks to Heavenli24 for reading through the first drafts of most of these stories and correcting my mistakes, of which there are usually many.
To all the lovely folks who have read the stories and taken the time and effort to leave a review or comment - THANK YOU!
I'm a big fan of well-written dramatic stories, and you can find some great ones on The Winchester Abyss, a community just for stories about the emotions and emotional relationships of Dean, Sam, John, Bobby and all the other great characters in Supernatural. I've been slowly going through the SPN archives for good stories but it all takes time!
For those who love OC/OFC stories, Not Alone : Best OC Stories has a great range of well-written, exciting and different stories with original characters sharing Dean and Sam's lives.
If you have any recommendations for stories that you've read and enjoyed that might suit either of the above communities, please let me know via PM, getting time to read through the vast Supernatural archives is proving challenging!
The absolute best thing about writing is that you can keep talking to the characters,
find out what they're doing and feeling, and they talk back to you!
If you enjoy the stories here, please take a moment and leave a comment - online fiction is one of the very few places where readers can give writers feedback and it's always very much appreciated to hear what you thought of a story - likes or dislikes.
