Author has written 30 stories for Thunderbirds, Thunderbirds, and Beauty and the Beast.

(rhymes with Pikachu)

I'm a stay-at-home mother of three teenagers, and I've rediscovered both the Thunderbirds and the joy of writing fiction. Thanks for any and all reviews; they really help. For the record, I write mostly TV-verse stories; the only movie-verse story I currently have is The White Winds.

Due to Fanfiction.net's policy about reprinting song lyrics, my songfic, Bedtime Song, can be found at Fan Nation and at lunaescence archives.

Update:

November 21, 2009 - WOOT! I have hit the bull's eye! I have made it to 50K!! Is my story finished? What do you think? LOL! Truthfully, I figure up to another 25K before the story is complete, but that's not counting the stuff I know I have to cut. I will be looking for a Brit-picker beta in addition to my regular beta, as I have some scenes in England that I know I have flubbed my way through.

Now for my latest rant. If you're writing fanfic based on fanfic you've read, you're not writing the characters. You're writing someone else's interpretation of the characters. If you want to write fanfic and write it with any authority, KNOW YOUR CANON. More and more I realize that the girls writing all these want-to-kill-them-with fire movie-verse Tracy Sister fics are feeding off each other! They read each other's stories, gush wildly about them, and pull all the details for their story--right or wrong--from them. They're not going back to the canon and trying to write what they see on the screen (and I'm not even talking about the TV show--the movie characters are DIFFERENT). For pity's sake, girls! Watch the movie again! And if over half your readers are telling you your OC stinks, remove the story. It makes you look bad if you leave it up.

I'm still looking for the Gerry Anderson Thunderbirds font and dingbats If you have them, would you please email them to me? I would be very grateful to have them. To make it clear, I've not forgotten my WIPs at all. Really. They are poking me at the least opportune moments.

RE: the Thunderbirds movie section. If you read the site's front page, you'll see that they're doing a lot of reorganization. They're splitting some fandoms into many smaller fandoms (like having categories for each of Jane Austen's books) and integrating others by using a "World" filter. EDIT: Having seen the huge influx of really bad Tracy Sister fics on the movie side, and the return to the TV side of such artists as Boomercat, I've rethought my stand on this. As long as there are such awful stories haunting the movie-verse side, let the two remain separate. It will make it easier to find the good stories in the TV-verse section.

To be worked on (not necessarily in order of importance):
My Brains-centered NaNo novel, entitled Brainstorm. 50,161 and counting.
My Tracy Sister fic from two NaNoWriMos ago.
Chapter 68 of The White Winds
Chapter 8 of Resolutions Redux
Chapter 28 of Overtures
Various posts and cast biographies for International Rescue: The Next Phase

My new site, Thunderbirds Central, is up and running, though there are still things that need coding. Hope you stop by and give the site a gander.

Artwork!

Scenes from my fics, Turnabout, Serendipity, Masquerade and Overtures, as drawn by MathGirl can be found at the Thunderbirds Central gallery. Artwork from her own stories is also there; all is posted with her kind permission. Other manga-style Thunderbirds art by my daughter is also available at Thunderbirds Central. Hope you enjoy!

Inspirational quote:

During 2007 NaNoWriMo, I particularly enjoyed the weekly pep talks that they sent out via email. They were written by published writers like Garth Nix and Neil Gaiman. The one from Deanna Raybourn on November 25th was particularly interesting and I'm trying to keep it in mind. I've posted the part that I particularly liked here.

I know, writing every day is challenging. But it is also incredibly easy. When you write every day, you are always in the story.
There is never a period of reconnecting with your characters, of trying to remember what mood you were attempting to create the last time you worked.
And by working every day, you engage your subconscious in a way that simply isn't possible when you keep a more whimsical schedule.
There is no need to summon the muse because there is no time for the fickle little strumpet to go anywhere.
--Deanna Raybourn

Current observed TBs fandom fanfic trends:

Tracy Sister fics (especially twins to the boys)... oh boy!! They're getting more and more numerous, and worse with each new one posted! Can we kill them with fire?? Pleeeeeease?
Alan-whumping - starting up again in earnest -- poor kid is getting every disease under the sun!
Scott's military career is coming into the spotlight.
Sweet Tracys as kids stories - still ramped up to a loud crescendo! (Now called WeeTracys, I guess.)
Overprotective Scott - revving up again
Some interesting new authors and stories coming along... and a few, fine veteran authors are returning to share their artistry with us.

To my British fellow Thunderbirds writers, a small reminder. The Tracy family is American. If you have any questions about how Americans do or say things, get on one of the forums or send a PM to one of us Yanks and ask. Many of us are more than willing to advise you on how to write the Tracys as living on this side of either pond. It will lend verisimilitude to your fics, and keep our heroes as Gerry Anderson created them. And we don't even bite.

And conversely, for those of you American writers who need information about Britain, Cathrl has provided a wonderful resource. You can find it here: http://www.reeslay.co.uk/cath/britain.htm. Lots of great information about education, politics, and general things to watch out for as you write our cousins across the pond.

On archiving and linking:

Please do not copy my fanfictions anywhere online or reprint them in a fanzine without my express consent or without giving authorial credit. To ask permission, I may be reached at my email of record or you can send me a PM. I don't bite, really, and will be very grateful that you were polite enough to ask. However, keeping a copy for yourself to print out is cool with me.

I like being favorited--who doesn't? No need to ask. But if you add my fics to a C2, or recommend them somewhere off ff.net, I'd appreciate it if you drop me a line and let me know where it is. I'd love to know why you felt my story good enough to recommend this way.

Any and all original characters are mine and may not be used without my express written consent. Thank you.

A plug!

For FanHistory - a wiki recounting the history of fandom, by focusing on the fandoms that make it up. That's over 40 years for Thunderbirds, folks! Check out the Thunderbirds article, still under construction. Hey, you could even edit it, if you have some time!
