Greetings!

I am a 21 year-old English major at some Midwestern, US university. Harry Potter has been an obsession of mine for eleven years now (wow, I feel old) and I have been an avid reader of fan fiction for more than eight.

I enjoy most cannon pairings in addition to Hermione/Minerva and Albus/Minerva. I am also particularly fond of mentor-fics involving Albus and Harry or Minerva and Hermione, Albus or Minerva adopt Harry fics, and time travel fics (especially those of the re-do variety).

I have only recently begun to spend a lot of time thinking and writing my own fiction, even thought I have published things sporadically for the last several years.

My stories as they stand so far are:

1. Through the Eyes of a Bookworm: Into a World of Magic

This piece used to be called Harry Potter Through Another’s Eyes. It was born when I was a senior in high school. I had no original ideas of my own, but I wanted to write some fan fiction. I decided that writing what JKR had already given us from a different point of view would be good practice and a way to get a feel for the characters. I wrote and published the first chapter over Christmas break, but then sort of abandoned the story once school started up again.

Fast forward three and a half years. Suddenly the title of the story has changed and I have started updating again, so what happened? Well, I got really interested in the relationship and interaction between Minerva McGonagall and Hermione Granger. At first I read a lot of fics that had them in a mentor/student or mother/daughter relationship, then I read some that put them in a romantic relationship. It was a little weird for me at first, but the more I read the more I liked it.

Then I started noticing that a lot of fics, including those that weren’t Hermione or Minerva centric would make allusions to the fact that these two women had a close relationship (friendship, mentorship, romantic etc.) and had developed it while Hermione was a student. I desperately wanted to find a story that would show the way this relationship blossomed and took shape, but could really find nothing. To satisfy my curiosity, I decided I would have to write one of my own.

I realize that there are two different audiences on ff.net: those that want a mentor-fic and those that want a romance-fic. I understand both positions and I consider myself a part of both groups. Therefore, neither group needs worry, you will both get your wish! Hermione and Minerva will have a purely platonic relationship while Hermione is still in school. After that, this will probably branch into two separate stories. I am already thinking that Hermione’s school years are going to have to be split up somehow or this story will be crazy long.

2. One Last Night

I wrote this not long after I’d started college. It was one of those ideas that just wouldn’t go away. Finally I succumbed to it. I was missing high school and my friends and a certain teacher and that story came pouring out late one night. Upon re-reading the story years later, I realize how clumsy it is and have considered going back to edit. I still like it though, I came from my wish that I could have had a moment like that.

3. A Pensive Night

I have had several ideas for an HGMM romance over the last couple of years, but I never thought the first one I would write down would be so sad and tragic. I was heading to bed one night and I felt quite tired. No sooner had I laid down when this idea fell, fully-formed into my brain. I was then wide-awake and unable to rest until I had written it. It is also in need of some editing, due to the late hour in which it was written and that my proofreading abilities are sub-par at one in the morning.
