Oh now let's be a bit more realistic...

my name is Theodore E. Amos, aka duke. I'm a Fanfiction reader, and I'm trying to write now as well. i also write orginal stories on fictionpress.com. i like humor action, a bit of romance and anything else in the stories i read...basically any thing that i will actually sit and read and not just skim through. i actually love cross-overs and oc stories...but there is a certain limit i can stand concerning to oc.

for me when it come to oc...yes you can make them powerful, strong or what ever...but you can't them so much that, they over shoot the main character plot-wise...without proper, and understandable reason...(only if the story mainly about them..then go on.) they can be as important as the main character. Vulnerability is a must for an oc, i don;t care if there human, or a god, they must be able to die and get hurt!! (not saying kill them off or whatever). if your going to do and coupling with your oc with and original character...make it realistic...not the love at first sight thing. childhood friend is exceptional.

No Oc should be perfect in any way even if they start of powerful..they need life lessons as well to reach a higher level. Plus an Oc do not always have to have a tragic past...but if it really does help the character and give them (plus the story) depth, then go ahead.

The oc/harem thing, it too can be exceptionable...but i think it should only be limit to two. any more though risk being a mary-sue/Gary-stu. Anything else i'm pretty much ok with.

au story and cross-overs: i love these stories, but if you're going to do a cross-over, try to use elements from each world, not just characters...it make the story more filling (but hey that what i think.)

tip: if your going to do a cross-over...research the worlds to give yourself a more in dept cross-over.

ie: juggernauts of the leaf. i really went in deep to try to understand a how the 'magic' in the guilty gear universe actually work, from in game text, to the opinion of other gamers. unfortunately i got even more confused... yet more interested. using all i gather i came up with my own explanation. Of how this source of energy/power/strength etc truly came to be, and how it can be utilized which i will explain in chapter 4, which i'm writing now. Also a glossary is always liked to shows consideration two those unfamiliar to the other worlds in your cross over. also be detailed with certain things like..attacks and what not. it's part of that consideration thing.

one other thing..i belive that making a character OOC is exceptionable with in reason. Ie: Au and cross over stories. for the purpose of humor.from a self altering event in your story. qany other reason i really don't think it's really appropriate.

also in my book a cross-over can be an considered AU and it beacuse of that making a character OOC is reasonable. Think about it. hinata hyugga from Naruto meets with Sakura Kasugano from street fighter (or your oc) in the naruto universe. now yet say you make them friends. best friends even. One sakura has a very out-going personality. She's a tomboy whose hyper active and she see fighting as an hobby. yet she do have a maidens heart. Hinata personality is more Shy. she's not that strong emotionally which, causes her to fail a lot in her career as a ninja. Her self esteem isn;'t all that high yet her will is. now someone like Sakura would help with that, and being around her enough will effect Hinata in a very positive way. Breaking her out of her shy shell, at least enough for her to talk back, stop fainting and be a more successful ninja. that what i think.
