Author has written 12 stories for Cats. It has been a long time since I've been on Fanfiction.net. My forum was robbed out from under me, and the site completely changed how it is done. Maybe I'll post against someday.. (May 16th, 2009) Leaving all my old info on here since...I don't have time to read it. I'm try to remember what my Creative Writing teacher told me about writing, "Heart, then art!" That you should just feel free to write whatever you want without worrying about what other people will think, and when you finally have that all down, you can go back and perfect it with silly things like grammar and a reasonable plot line...okay, now I'm being sarcastic, but you get my point, right? I thought that was worth sharing. Remember, don't stop and think how horrible you're story is, how weird it is, how others will hate it, how it will need you behind it to defend it every step of the way, because that may not be true, but if you put your heart into it, without worrying about that, you might end up with something incredible. But do remember the ART part of it, to go back and fix things up like a portrait, turning your sketch of what the story will be into that work of art, finishing touches and all! "Dying is easy, Comedy is hard." - Donald Wolfit "Do I dare disturb the Universe?" - T.S. Eliot I write Cats fanfics. Please tell me what you think! (And thanks to those who already have!) My e-mail never changes... I have many ideas, whether or not you will like them, I know not. But I need the feedback. What I'm most interested in hearing is what you think of my writing style and story line, flow, characterization, things like that. And any mistakes I missed, point them out, but humbly, please...I won't say that "I'm only human", but that "I am incredibly human, with all the flaws that come with it. That includes the occasional bad grammar and typos, though I hate them." I love writing Cats fics - there isn't really a story line to begin with, but the characters are so fun, that it's easy to take the stories almost anywhere you want to. I DO have other genres I love, but the only time I've felt compelled to read fanfiction, let alone write it, is when I don't feel closure with the story. The reason I started loving Cats is because I had no idea who the characters without songs were. I looked up more information on them, tried to understand who they were, and the characters took life. That's why I love writing Cats fics. My first story, From an Owner's Point of View, was based off my cat, Chelito, the one in my icon, who reminds me of the Rum Tum Tugger. I saw him walking across the street to come back home, and I HAD to write a story right then and there. It all spiraled out of control from there... Let me just take a moment to complain. THERE IS NO SET FAMILY SETTING IN CATS. Cats can be interpreted in many different ways by many different people. That's why the show is different EVERY TIME you go see it. Now, I know that allegedly, ALW said that Macavity, Munkustrap, and the Rum Tum Tugger are brothers, and that's about it. Everyone else takes their own interpretations of Cats...how do you think the fandom got so out of control? We don't know who's oldest, who is technically related to who, if any at all - hell, Andrew Lloyd Webber takes so much leeway with HIS own works whenever he has the chance! He loves pushing the limit, in my opinion, even if it's not how the fans view it. So that's a pet peeve that was recently irked, ergo my rant. Oh, and the Quaxo/Mistoffelees thing? I know, I just want to use the name Quaxo when I can apply it to the story, since Mistoffelees is the more familiar name. OKAY! Now that THAT'S off my chest... A lot of my writing is currently on hiatus. But I'm always hatching new ideas. Just don't always feel like posting them. I don't know if I'd really finish all my stories, and I'm considering taking some out. Thoughts, anyone? I have a new batch of stories, all of them just itching to be written, but suddenly I'm frightened of returning to the fanfic grindstone. In the end, if I write, it's for the sake of the story, which nags at me until it is written. I can't say I'm a good writer. That's all a matter of opinion. (Like one flamer who decided she would cuss me out in the name of a vendetta, and called me a two year old...I'm not two, I'm AT LEAST 5 and a half!) I just like to write, as any author here does, and hope to entertain a few people along the way. My stories won't always be original, and I'm not STRIVING for originality; they just evolve into what they are. As a girl raised on RPGs, Fighting Games, Anime, and Fairy Tales, I can't guarantee how my stories will come out. As a woman of science, I struggle with the realism of a story. And I tend to put way too much thought into a story. But here they are! The stories I have written, the place where future stories will take place! I haven't disappeared, just hid in the shadows. About my stories: All one shots...: will remain one shots for now. They were intended to be as long as they are... Demeter's Life: Ah, yes...I think the only reason this one gets read a lot is because it has a character's name right in the title...Anyways, no, there is no sequel to it. If there were, though, oddly enough, it would focus on Macavity! Yes, I have thought about it, and it would be a lot sadder and very different from the original, which is why I postponed writing it. In general, I've gotten good reviews on it, but there are times I go, "My GOD, I can't believe I WROTE that! WHAT WAS I THINKING?!" and die of embarrassment. But the story is what it is...it was my first chapter story, what can I say? Study of Humanity: This was intended to have chapters! But when I wrote them out, they weren't that funny, so it's remained a one shot. I don't know if I'll ever continue it. Love Potion Number Nine: I can't believe how long this is taking me to write! Amazing what one little thought can become, right? It's going to end in a few chapters, though. It's two thirds finished, and currently on hiatus. I have no desire to be funny right now. ((serious glare, then smiles)) I love the story only for the fact that I think of random jokes and I can totally shove them in there, because it's not a serious piece! Comedy is fun...and totally hit or miss, heh. Trapped in Shadows: So far, my only M rated fic. I really, really am proud of this one (because I have it all written out, and just enjoy trying my hand at new genres.) I would appreciate feedback on this one, if you don't mind, though I'm sure a lot of it is predictable - as I've said before, I'm not TRYING for originality, though I would like it, I think I'll save that for my published stories. But this is a good exercise for me, and I would like to know what you think! Disclaimer: do not read the entire story in one sitting. Apparently there is a rollercoaster of emotions, that may cause even the most stoic of personas to burst into tears. Did I intend for this? Kinda. Did it happen? Apparently so. Am I sorry for this? No, actually, it makes me smile...and smile heartily. Do I love being this dramatic? Meh, I can't be funny all the time... Stories to come...: I did a count...I have about 40 story ideas, most of them mushed up and put into another story, but just to let you know...my brain doesn't stop thinking about these characters and what else I can torment them with. The latest story on my mind is VERY different from anything you'll see on here, and let's just say I've been researching the history of something you'd never guess so I can get the facts straight. IF I decide to post it. And still more ideas I'd put on my alter ego account, because they're just so...dark...I also was thinking of venturing into Wicked fanfiction, but only one story, and I'm not familiar with the community enough to try it, yet. Maybe I'll decide over the summer, this story nags at me sometimes. Stories may stay posted or may be taken down. They won't be completely gone, I still have them saved, and if I ever make that website I've been wanting to make, I would post them up there again after editing. But if you're wondering where they have gone, there you are! | |||||||||||||
