The Fangreaders are proud to present an awards ceremony our fandom has never seen. The tuxes and dresses are being designed. The Royalty Blended Blood is being ordered. Fangbangers are queuing up to be on the selected donor list. All this and more are to come as we get ready to celebrate the announcement of the best fanfics in our fandom that have made us laugh, cry and swoon.

Since January 2011 the Fangreaders (http://fangreaders.blogspot.com/) have been chatting about and sharing their favourite SVM/TB fanfiction stories. What started with a few enthusiasts has grown into a community of over 200 fanfic readers and writers, stretching over several time-zones – and we just keep getting bigger and bigger! New members are signing up every week to take part in our online discussions in the Fangreaders chat room, the Fangreaders Chatroom Central blog site, Fang_Readers Community on LiveJournal, and the The Fangreaders Forum:Josephine's

You may have heard of a previous Fangreader organised event – The Lemon Tart Awards. This event celebrated the sassy and sexy side of fanfiction. But this time we want to go all the way - Oscars Style! In celebration of 12 wonderful months of meeting new people and making new friends – the community is bringing you ‘The Fangreader Awards’. On January the 8th, Fangreaders submitted their nominations for their most loved fanfics in eleven different categories. Comedy, Romance, All Human, Angst, One-shots, series and more will be included in this event to celebrate excellence in writing and honour those who have captivated us with their plots, amused us with their banter and made our hearts flutter with excitement when they provide us with an update.

This award is for a fanfic from a first time author who has posted their first story after January 2011

The Longshadow Award~ Best One-Shot Fanfic

The Newlin Award~ Best All Human Fanfic

Mr Cataliades Award~ Best Series Fanfic

The Ancient Pythoness Award~ Best Fanfic Published before 2010

The Lafayette Reynolds Award~ Best Alternate Universe Fanfic ( For the purpose for this award Alternate Universe A/U means any fic that takes the characters out of the "canonical" world of SVM or True Blood )

The Jason Stackhouse Award~ Best Comedy Fanfic

The Bill Compton Award~ Best Angst Fanfic

The Eric Northman Award~ Best Epic Fic
Fic must be at least 25 Chapters AND 200,000 words

What's a Fangreader?

A Fangreader is a member of a group of fanfic authors and readers that get together in a private chat room on Chatzy.com. We meet daily to chat fanfics or meet authors of those fanfics. We also have Fangtivities that are fun activities with a SVM/TrueBlood flavour.

This is a group sponsored event, but our panelists are volunteers from our members who have each contributed to the overall running of the Fangies from the nomination process to the ceremony to announce the winners.

These contributions include: ensuring the validity of the nominations and voting ballots; ideas and advice ; making banners and graphics ; writing blurbs to be sent out to the fandom ; correspondence to the nominees ; promoting the Awards across the fandom ; and much more.
