I started writing fanfiction when I was about 14, long, long before I knew what it was called. I just knew it filled up study hall time, and that I found it far easier to write for someone else's characters than it was to spend all the time plotting out my own. According to my stats, I came onto fanfiction.net in April 2003 when I was frustrated with Fox for cancelling The Lone Gunmen, perhaps the most brilliant spin-off ever. I wrote two short stories featuring the boys, and then went underground again. I came back to writing when I got sucked into the new Doctor Who series featuring Christopher Eccleston; once I heard that Chris had left after one season, I knew there were stories to be written. And so there are. (Note, Series Two hasn't hit America yet, so for the time being, the Doctor I write is Nine. He'll always be My Doctor.)
That being said, I do write things besides fanfic - I'm currently co-writing a book with a friend about our misadventures in dating and in New York City. (Think Sex & The City meets Bridget Jones - that's what we're aiming for.) Also on the backburner is an historical book about American "characters," starting with Ben Franklin and ending with Madonna. But here, it's all fanfic all the time. Starting out short, in the process of writing a long Who fic right now. Here's what we have so far:
Stories
One of Those Days ~ Lone Gunfic. Frohike's having one of those days as he tries to figure out what the other Gunmens' fascination is with a kid's show.
Another Long Van Trip ~ Lone Gunfic, another one-shot from Frohike's point of view. Just what the title says: stuck in a van with Langly and Jimmy. Pity him.
Products ~ My first Who fic, a very short piece about the dangers of sharing shower-space with a 19-year-old ape. Ninth Doctor, of course.
Once Bitten ~ A longer Who fic-in-progress. A trip to a distant planet leaves Rose's life in danger. Will it be enough to make the Ninth Doctor realize what he really feels for her?
