Author has written 3 stories for Naruto, Last House on the Left, and W.I.T.C.H.. About my stories: Reboot: Chapter 2 is up, but it will be a while before I have the time to work on next chapter. The plan is to write as much as possible over summer so that I'll have a backlog to draw on. This way there won't be these long breaks in the future. Mermaid: May have a second chapter at some point. I had ideas for a post-movie reflection, though I've forgotten most of it so it'll probably be after I feel like watching the movie again. Bio/ other musings: I've always loved reading and I especially love falling over gems in fanfiction - I love the stories where a lot of thought goes into character and plot development and making sure that the story flows as it should. These are the kinds of stories that I can return to even years after discovering them. I don't post much, but from surfing ff.net a lot I've noticed that sometimes people with similar taste to oneself have "Favorites" lists that are full of goodiness - so feel welcome to check mine out. Some of the stuff I appreciate and look for is: Well-thought-out plots, nice flow and writing methods, character development and representation, etc. A big thing for me is when it comes to keeping the characters in character, which is one of the things that really bug me. It's like this: People usually write mainly about characters that they really like in the original stories - but suddenly, they turn these characters into some kinds of Mary Sues in their stories (many times without any real explanation - like changing hair color, eye color, skin color, powers, names, races, and frickin' personalities!). But why change a character that you (presumably) liked to begin with? To me it seems like a big "screw you, you weren't good enough for my story"-kinda thing and that makes no sense. Nice grammar/ spelling level - because it can seriously ruin things. Now, a few mistakes per chapter is not unusual or deplorable, but when you get to where a character's name is spelled wrong every other time, you might consider looking extra carefully at the problem. Another good thing is a good synonyms dictionary, because using one word all the time WILL stand out (and annoy the ever-loving crap out of me). This is just a little side thing, but I like it when people swear in stories. Not over the top, but like they would in real life. If you think the character would say "god damn" in a situation, don't make them say "gosh darn" instead. Even if that means you have to have a higher rating (which doesn't bother me, since I usually go for M rated stuff anyways - not for lemons, but because these stories usually seem more "grown up"). Don't be afraid that your readers won't understand you - also known as "show, don't tell". You see it in kids' shows - e.g. something explodes, people are running and screaming, when the hero comments "Oh no, that thing blew up! People could get hurt!" *Facepalm*. Showing only also leaves room for alternative interpretations, and as we all know, alternative interpretations are the spice of life. Or... All these things are easy for me to say, of course. I don't write a whole lot but when I do I try to get those things through. And I write for me. That's my last pet peeve - I understand authors wanting feedback on their stories, encouraging words and confirmation on the good points of their writing, but I don't understand wanting to give up writing if they don't get X number reviews. Or people who change their plots according to readers' wishes. To me, a story will always be about a vision that you try to get out. A story that's in your head that won't go away until it's been written down. It's not for anybody else. If they like it, great, but I really believe in writing as its own end. Now, about that favourite list... Recommendations - pairings that you're likely to find om my "Favorites" lists: DBZ: Bulma/ Vegeta Naruto: Hinata/ just about anyone, just not Naruto InuYasha: Kagome/ Sesshoumaru (though there are sprinkles of Kag/others around) - I also have a lot of Kagome/ (anyone) from crossovers on the list. I know, I know - Kagome is my whore and shall be given out to any hot or interesting guy (some things don't change no matter how old you get). No points for noticing my hypocrisy. Ben 10: Gwen/ Kevin Young Justice: Artemis/ Wally or Artemis/ Dick Teen Titans: Raven/Robin DC/ Justice League: Superman/ Wonder Woman Harry Potter: Hermione/ Malfoy or Hermione/ Harry (I like these pairings but grow weary of searching the site for them - the fics are numerous, but sadly many of them suffer from 'I fantasize about being Hermione so I made her perfect!'-syndrome or alternatively 'Guy teaches Hermione how every problem in her life can be solved by his penis'-syndrome. Very unfortunate, and it has killed most of my love for the HP fanfics) Buffy: The Vampire Slayer: Buffy/ Spike American Horror Story: Violet/ Tate Dark Angel: Max/ Alex Pride and Prejudice: Eliza/ Darcy fan, of course. Sky High: Warren/ Layla I'm also found on deviantart (CallistaMoon), dokuga (callista), fictionpress (Callista Moon, if my memory serves me correctly - otherwise just callista. Yeah, it's been a while). | |||||||
