Since I've been around so long I thought I'd post a little bit about myself. . . (It's about time don't you think?)
I'm a high school special education teacher. I read and write to relieve stress. Things that drive me nuts in writers are:
no warnings or not enough warning. This is the number one sin in my book. I have a writer in the Plumverse, one in the JAG fandom, and one the CSI NY fandom who I will never read again b/c of one story they wrote. In two cases it's people who claim to be shippers, in my mind you can't be a shipper and kill off one of the characters you claim to ship! (Or if you do don't claim it's a shipper story.) I have to take anti-depressants, I read to cheer myself up not make the depression worse.
Angst that goes on and on and on. Piece of advice if your reviews are wondering if they're going to get a happy ending chances are you've dragged the angst on too long!
The misuse of they're, their, there, to, too, two, your, and you're. I understand once in awhile but regularly? If you are not going to use a beta at least use a spelling and grammar checker and set it to check grammar and style!
