How about a brief introduction of yourself?

Hi there! As you may already know, my PenName's Kudo Shinichi Tanteisan. I assure you that I am not him but I am merely an avid fan of his. I won't tell you my real name but most of my friends call me EJ.

Fabulous! What got you into FanFiction in the first place?

When I was still in fifth grade, (or maybe younger. I don't really remember ) I was looking at this website about Detective Conan (don't remember the site either. Sorry.) and I found a link that says "FanFic". I still wasn't familiar with the term then, so I opened it. It was a ConXAi fic. Just last year, I remembered that and decided to search for a Harry Potter fan fiction since I was bored. I found one about Bellatrix Lestrange. I got a bit bored so I didn't finish it. A few months later, during a school event, I talked to a schoolmate of mine about lots of stuff and we landed on on the subject of fan fiction. She told me that I should read more, and I did. Now, I keep on suddenly finding myself on the computer for hours on end, reading numerous fan fictions. :P

I see. So, what kind of FanFiction do you like to write?

I only have one story as of now. It's still in progress. The title is "A Different World". I try to keep everything as canon as possible.

Do you tend to write the same pairings/characters or are you a fandom whore?

Like I said up above, I try to keep everything as canon as possible. But I might experiment a little in the future...

What is your most popular fanfic and why do you think people like it?

Dakara, I only have one story as of now. Maybe they like it because I've got good grammar? Or maybe it's because the story's about a girl who suddenly finds herself in the world of the anime she is an avid fan of. The idea may not be original, but it's still a bit special. I try to look for other stories like that but I only found a handful. :(

Forget other people. What is the fanfic you're most proud of?

Maybe, in the future, I'll still be most proud of ADW. It's my first work. And reviewers say its good. :D

Do you find writing easy or hard? What are the most difficult aspects of writing you struggle with?

I find it a tad bit hard. You see, I'm a slow writer. And I only make things up as I go. I planned to have weekly updates and have two to three chapters done before posting one, but I botched that since I thought I was holding on to the chapter for too long.

Write a few sentences on your favorite character/pairing.

My favorite pairing would be, ShinXRan. Haibara's nice, but sometimes, she can get too cold. And I just don't think it's right.

Are there any FanFiction trends/clichés you can't stand or are just sick of?

Yaoi and Yuri. Ah! My precious innocence! If it's mild, I can stand it. But I still don't like it much.

Mary-sues. Although I could be considered a hypocrite since Emma Melendez (see A Different World) is sort of becoming like one. I do my best not to though.

What is the first fandom you wrote for? Do you still like/participate in it?

Detective Conan. It's still in progress, so... yes.

Name your OTP(s) or most frequently written pairings/characters and explain what it is about them you love to write.

If ADW ever gains a romantic part, it'll all be canon. But plunnies seem to avoid the love road... Not that I'm complaining.

What would you call your writing style?

My writing style can sometimes become too formal and old fashioned. Probably because of reading too much Sherlock Holmes... So maybe I'll call it, "Watson Style"?

Do you read other people's fanfics? If so, what do you find yourself reading the most?

Actually, I usually find myself reading more than writing them.

Name one thing you'd LOVE to write, but have been to shy or afraid to?

Let's see... Nope. I don't think there's any. I'll update this if I ever think of one.

Do you have trouble taking criticism? Or worse yet, do you have the dreaded bloated ego?

My work hasn't been criticized yet. But I don't like flames. I mean, who does? Any way, because of my work not being criticized yet, the answer to the second one is a partial yes. My head's getting a little inflated now. But I make sure that I don't dwell on the "moment of glory" too long whenever someone reviews or puts my story on their favorite or alert lists to avoid having a head that's too big.

When you write, is there anything that helps? Music? A quiet room?

Hmm... Music, I guess...

What inspires you to write?

Well, random stuff inspire me. So, whenever I write, I sometimes watch a movie first, or listen to music and stuff like that.

Lastly, how would you sum up your FanFiction experiences and yourself as a writer?

Reading fan fictions influenced my writing style a lot. I used to write in Watson Style (see the 12th question) all the time. Now, I have been able to change my writing from too serious, to humorous, which is good... I think. I think I improved a bit. :D
