Devanrae is a queer, vegetarian, feminist graduate student in western Massaschuetts, USA. She does social justice work around gender and sexuality, teaches college courses, runs a couple of mentoring programs, volunteers for an HIV/AIDS organization, hangs out with three awesome cats, rock climbs, runs, and does yoga (not all on the same day). On any given day she looks like she's in kindergarten because she's usually wearing a rainbow hoodie and purple plaid sunglasses with some other combination of colors, patterns and accessories. She has an awesome, awesome life and a massive, massive crush on Rachel Maddow. She's also an enormous Gleek.

She has been reading fanfics since she was 14 and has also been involved in similarly nerdy activities. She also owns upwards of 400 books, and likes to use big words to prove it. The Luxury and the Necessity is her very first time writing her own fic, though! So far she's been very flattered by the attention and praise for the story! :-)

Devanrae is positively obsessed with the Hunger Games series and embarrassed to admit that she went to see the movie six times in theatres. She really appreciates the social justice themes in the books, and having such a strong female protagonist and role model.

Devanrae mostly reads nonfiction, but also thinks The Lovely Bones, The Handmaid's Tale, The Poisonwood Bible and Water for Elephants are awesome fiction books. She recommends you check them out! The authors are way better writers than her.
