oOo oOo oOo

Late Spring, 2013

It's heatin' up around here already, and it's not even June yet. Ah, life along the mid-Atlantic coast.

Even though I haven't seen a new episode in a long, long time, I'm still certifiably bodmin over it: Doc Martin! This is a British comedy starring Martin Clunes as Doctor Martin Ellingham. It's set in a small (and gorgeous) fishing village in Cornwall where Ellingham is the local GP. The kicker is Martin used to be a highbrow London surgeon until he developed a fear of blood that rendered him incapable of performing surgery. The village is populated by a number of endearing oddballs and also by an adorable head teacher, Louisa Glasson (played by the scrumptious Caroline Catz, thus the reason for my avatar), with whom Martin is desperately in love. To say they are "star-crossed" is putting it mildly, and while Martin does quite well as the GP, his hemophobia (er, "haemophobia"), his deplorable bedside manner, and his stumbling attempts to woo Louisa make for delightfully watchable shenanigans.

Thanks to all the Doc Martin fans and fanfiction writers who've been willing to read and review my attempts at DM fanfic, but especially to Littleguinea and GriffinStar for their hearty words of encouragement, fine eye to grammar, and ability to keep my "Americanisms" to a minimum. Every one of you are the best ever. In fact, I've been re-reading some of my reviews, and they just make me all warm and fuzzy inside all over again. Thank you! And now that Doc Martin's fifth series is over, I find I'm missing it terribly and will soon have to go back and re-watch the first four series, waiting until I can get the fifth one on DVD. They've started showing Series 5 on my local PBS station, but watching on TV isn't the same as watching them whenever I want - even with the DVR. And I've heard there's going to be a Series 6. Oh, yay!

Sidebar: This sidebar isn't new, but the sentiment's the same: If you get the chance, you should have a look at the documentaries Martin Clunes has produced. Several on dogs, horses, and the Islands of Britain. Stunning, amusing, informative, and quite fantastic. I found them on YouTube, but I guess you can access them via other social media methods. Worth your time.

I can't believe it, but I think I'm a bit bodmin over Call the Midwife and Downton Abbey, too.

oOo oOo oOo

I'm not ashamed to admit it: I'm a blissfully-obsessed Trekker and will be till I die - and probably well after that, too. My favorite incarnation will always be Voyager, but is followed quickly by Next Gen and Deep Space Nine.

I continue to appreciate everyone who's still reading and taking time to review my Star Trek stories and ask that you NEVER, EVER STOP. Extra-special thanks currently goes to FaBbErOoZ, who's taken a shine recently to my P/T fic. Continued thanks and appreciation goes to Jasper's Second Choice and Dax's10thHost.

And, hey, don't forget, if you're looking to read some of what I lovingly call "Treksmut" from days long gone by (mostly Paris/Torres from Voyager, but also some Janeway/Chakotay and various f/f, too), I'd be more than happy to share that with anyone over the age of 18. Since we mustn't post the really dirty bits here, just e-mail me (send me an original e-mail - don't go through this site, because it blocks e-mail addresses), tell me what pairing you'd like to read, and be sure you at least put it in writing that you're old enough to read naughty bits. Meantime, I've still got loads of unsmutty Trek right here!

oOo oOo oOo

A big thanks goes to StarbucksGhost, too, for taking time to read and review my Grey's Anatomy stories. I may never get over the firing of Brooke Smith and the demise of the Hahn/Torres relationship, but that's only because I enjoy that particular misery and would much prefer to curse the darkness than light a candle. LOL!
