Author has written 34 stories for Harry Potter, Greek Mythology, Downton Abbey, and Mansfield Park.

Lovely CS Mary Crawley icon by EOlivet.

Silvestria is English and in her early twenties. She read classics at university and is now doing a MLitt in The Novel where she is indulging in her love for romance, flawed female characters and draughty castles to her heart's content.

Like many people of her generations she spent her teens enthralled by Harry Potter. Less so now, though she'd still love to finish writing Cassandra one day. Nowadays she spends most of her time writing on the Regency RPG forum: The London Life (She's Rose.) They're now open for applications so if you fancy writing some Regency fiction, do stop on by. It's a great place anyway and Silvestria's writing has improved so much thanks to it!

Her original fiction can be found at fictionpress or her writing LJ.

Since watching Downton Abbey in autumn 2011 Silvestria has become utterly obsessed by it. She ships Matthew/Mary with a vengence and is currently writing a multi-chaptered AU "epic", Consolation Prize. The story splits its time between following Lady Mary on a journey of discovery to Italy and those left behind at Downton, mainly concentrating on Matthew and Sybil.

Her Downton Abbey obsession has also led her to create forums - see her homepage link. There's a discussion forum where we've got some really good debates going, a RPG (Silvestria plays Mary - surprise surprise), and a place to recommend and discuss fanfiction. Do check it out if you're a Downton Abbey fan!

Since starting the RPG, Silvestria has teamed up with Matthew's writer, talented M/M writer OrangeShipper, and they now publish co-written M/M stories as Of Sandwiches and Sea-Monsters. Do check out their stories!

If you enjoy any of her stories, do please let her know in a review! They mean so much and really help to enthuse her to keep writing.

She has recently got twitter and quite often mentions Downton Abbey and writing updates (in between the obligatory complaining about the day job and posting song lyrics!). She also has tumblr but she is not very interesting or original there, due to being graphically challenged. Do add her and let her know where you found her! :)

Note: As of September 2011, I will not be reading so much Downton Abbey fanfiction as I was and will consequently not be reviewing either. This isn't any mark against any individual authors or a lack of interest in the fandom. However, my MLitt requires me to read a lot of books for my degree and they will prioritised over fanfiction, as will my own writing. I apologise if you have been counting on my support; if I have more time I will return to it. I also hope I will not lose anybody else's because of this - it is nothing personal. I am active in fandom, but I am not reading much.

References for Consolation Prize

Since fanfiction.net doesn't let me post links offsite in the chapters, here is a glossary/footnotes/links for Consolation Prize. I suggest checking back here every chapter!

Chapter Five

- Sybil's first song is The Sun Whose Rays Are All Ablaze from Gilbert and Sullivan's The Mikado.

- Her second song is the folk song My Bonnie Lies Over the Ocean (not a recording that gives an impression of how she'd have sung it).

Chapter Seven

- Matthew's translation of The Decameron is by J. M. Rigg and was first published in 1903. You can read it here.

- Information about the Scuola Dalmata can be found here. The painting of George and the Dragon by Carpaccio that Mary and Hettie are looking can be seen here.

Chapter Eight

- Probably the best orchestral version of The Merry Widow waltz can be found here. A more period appropriate recording (from the 1920s), which might actually sound a bit like what the orchestras they were dancing to, can be found here. And, for the real connoisseurs, here is the original scene from the operetta! (I just love the moment when she stops protesting and the cymbals crash and he pulls her into his arms! Ahem. :P)

- As for Venetian cafe orchestras, here are a few of the better recordings on youtube to give you a flavour of them: Waltz of the Flowers (and more), Salut d'Amour, Pachabel's Canon.

Chapter Ten

- You will definitely want to watch this video of the Act One Finale of Tosca (complete with helpful subtitles) when reading this chapter. For added references, here is the wikipedia page for the opera, and the English libretto. If you're VERY keen, here is the Italian libretto for Act One!

- Some information and photos of the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma (which was the Teatro Constanzi) here.

Chapter Eleven

- Sciarpa is reciting a passage from the famous Roman lawyer and politician Cicero's speech Pro Caelio, a speech written in defence of Marcus Caelius, a generally nasty piece of work. By focussing his speech on attacking Caelius' one-time lover, the notorious Clodia (better known as the poet Catullus' muse, Lesbia, and for probably having an affair with her brother, the even more degenerate Publius Clodius) he was able to win the jury over to his side, even if it meant defending Caelius. You can read the passage in Latin and English here. Further information on the speech here. It is generally considered one of Cicero's best speeches.

Chapter Fourteen

- Here is information and a photo of the statue of Laocoon and his sons being attacked by sea-serpents, which reminded Mary of Matthew.
