I've been on this site ever since I was ten. Obviously, this wasn't my original account. But I still remember the joy of it all, pulling the wool over my parent's eyes and reading yaoi on the dimming light of my DSi as the LED lights hummed me to sleep, eleven o clock PM on a school night. And if my friends asked why I was so tired the next day, I'd just smile and wave them off. I don't think my strongly Catholic friends - even back then, they'd stare at me as if I was an abomination when I told them I couldn't recite a Hail Mary to save my ass - would have approved of me telling them that I was indulging in gay porn. From there on through, my early ideas of fandom began to form. And it was sort of hellish at first: I was at that age where girls started abandoning pants for skirts and the playground for manicures. And here I was, this awkward lump of a Pikachu breeder still watching Spongebob instead of Keeping Up With the Kardashians. But I stuck with it, even after a few soft moments of waking up an hour earlier in the morning before school for the express purpose of watching AMTV just to have something relevant to talk about with my fellow classmates. Pulling through, I finally made some new friends in junior high - ones who didn't call my cell phone and leave death threats with their blonde tag-a-long giggling madly in the background for a group bonding experience. I'm proud to say that this site actually helped me through that rough time, what with the constant supply of stories and, well, yaoi. But in all seriousness, this site really gave me something to live for in those bleak days. More specifically, my transgression from fifth grade to sixth: middle school. And I know you're probably wondering what type of a weak willed idiot I had to have been in my younger years to only be living for this site at some points, but I'm here to tell you that I might have been weak willed, but no idiot. Just depressed. I mean, I literally wrote "death" multiple times in Spanish on the foggy window of my bus and didn't even think about lying while an identical pair of Barbie doll physique girls sitting across from me asked what I was writing. Yeah, this site can get pretty awful. There's slews of bad writers out there rampaging each section with their "talent". And I can tear my hair out over the shit I force myself to read daily. But that's why I can never abandon this site. Because I live in this constant fear that there's a girl on this site out there just like me: illegally signed up (we have an age limit, people), trying her hand at writing to try to release some pent up anger or at least reading to make her forget, if even for a little while. The existence of the Legend of Derpy is thanks to these people, and it's thanks to people like you, who read both these paragraphs willingly and listened. Thank you.
