“I thought it was a great short story. Not too much background – just enough – plus a complete story.
Chicklette: Pull My Strings by GeekChic12
“This story was really well written; it pulled me in from the very start, and I loved watching B and E figure things out. The side story about Esme lent great realism to this story. I really, really liked it.
iambeagle: The Girl Who Jumped by aWhiteBlankPage
“Though it had bit of a slow start, I really enjoyed this o/s. The writing was honest and beautiful. The connection between Edward and Bella was very believable.
jaxon22: The Girl Who Jumped by aWhiteBlankPage
“Beautiful. Smart. Concise. I was emotionally engaged from the very first line. It was believable and not schmaltzy. There were a billion emotions in the whole thing and, in a O/S that’s impressive. It set the bar really high. Loved it. I would definitely read more from this author.
jessypt: Flames by Rose Masen Cullen
“Flames was gritty and dark. The story of a prostitute and a married man seems somewhat typical, but this was anything but. The author did a phenomenal job painting the impossibility of their situation and yet left me so, so hopeful that things just might work out in the end. I want to know if it all works out, if they figure out how to be together for real without losing all the important things in their lives. More! I need more!!
kdc2239: Pinky Swear by moirae
“I picked Pinky Swear as my favorite because I loved the realistic simplicity of it. This one-shot let us in on a close friendship between Bella and Alice and we see how their differing personalities define their relationship. The characters voices and inner thoughts were so realistic - nothing felt forced and the story flowed smoothly. I loved it and would definitely be a story I would read if it were continued.
kharizzmatik: The Girl Who Jumped by aWhiteBlankPage
“There’s something about this story that grabbed me from the get-go and wouldn’t let go. The voice was so unique and pessimistic/sarcastic at times that I found it downright humorous. Maybe I saw a little of myself in Bella. I went through a full range of emotions reading it, both sides of the spectrum. Absolutely loved it.
Lux123: The Girl Who Jumped by aWhiteBlankPage
“This story completely gripped my heart and tugged at its strings. I was immersed from beginning to end. The narrative felt really honest; Bella’s voice was strong, yet vulnerable. And while Edward was cocky and mysterious, underneath it all, he was just as lost as Bella. I loved their “tell me something true” whispers. And how he goaded and tempted her. How he eventually broke down her walls, awakening something in her and making her feel like that ready-to-jump girl again.
Magnolia822: Saving Up by Purelyamuse
“I enjoyed the honesty of this story and the way the author captures that pivotal moment of a relationship where it either fizzles out or develops into something more. It was tightly written and came full circle through the trope of toilet paper, which worked wonderfully and hilariously. A realistic and sympathetic Bella and a loveably clueless Edward, who turns out not to be so clueless after all, I adored every moment of this sweet and funny fic.
ooza: How A Theory Becomes A Law by BellaFlan
“This was a very tough choice for me because there were a few stories that I absolutely loved. I chose How a Theory Becomes a Law because it captured me from the very beginning. I absolutely loved Bella and her inner musings as she tried to solve the mystery of whether Edward was a vampire. The storyline was refreshing, had a unique take on the characters, and was filled with nerdy references galore. It actually made me LOL out loud, which is pretty rare.
sabriel017: The Babysitter by Plummy
“The Babysitter was my favourite entry. I love a good male POV and think it's particular tricky to get just right. This was perfection. We learn that Edward likes things that jiggle and he's caring in that very BOY way of here's-a-problem-let's-fix-it. Bella is the perfect foil and you can see how she gets under his skin. The supporting cast was brilliant, too, and lead by "MC Malice"... a little touch of genius right there. The character dynamics as well as the feelings were realistic and the dialogue very natural. A fantastic o/s, beautifully put together and served. I'd love to know more about all of these characters!
stickybuns: The Girl Who Jumped by aWhiteBlankPage
“Tell me something true… How could I NOT have fallen in love with this entry? You feel for Bella at the beginning, so confused, so lost. She’s always been with the wrong one and she just… let it happen. The way he reads through her bullshit just pulls you in. He sees her. Sees her. When she pushes him away, when he kind of gives up on her because there’s no point in chasing her… And then when she finally realizes that she wants him? … Perfect.
Tkegl: The Babysitter by Plummy
“I'm a sucker for a story that pulls me in and takes me for a ride, ans if it gives me a few laughs along the way, all the better. This story delivered that in spades. Bella's spunky, smart, and fun...Edward's a decent guy trying to to the right thing, but he's also so overwhelmed by her and trying to fight it. I just enjoyed this story thoroughly from beginning to end. Well-written, hot, sweet, funny, smart, charming – not enough adjectives to say it all!
Congratulations to all of the winners and thank you from the bottom of our fic hearts to each and every author who participated. Please don't be discouraged if you didn't place. Trust me when I (Jada) say that these judges agonized long and hard over these choices. I'm pretty sure most of them are bald and no longer possess fingernails at all. You should be INSANELY proud of yourselves for what you've created. Now go forth and pimp the shit out of it with PRIDE!!!!!!
(Side note: I totally typed 'long and hard' without making a peen joke, so you know I mean biznazz here, people. Js.)
I want to take the time out to thank the judges for their time in this contest. You ladies are a wicked awesome group of ladies and I bet you all smell like sunshine and chocolate. Except ooza. She probably smells like fear and judgment. Anyhow, your efforts in this contest were very much appreciated. I love you, guise.
ASS SLAPS AND BEWB GROPES TO ROSEARCADIA who is responsible for all of the contest graphics, including the fantastic lil baby blinkies she made for the winners. You, my dear, are the shit. I'm having a T-shirt made. AND YOU SHALL WEAR IT TO ALL THE EVENTS. Ily, chica.
And to the readers... You guise are the heartbeat of this whole operation. I was in awe of how much support the authors received during this contest, whether it was in reviews, general encouragement, volunteering to beta entries, pimping of the contest itself, etc. I know it's easy to forget in the face of all the drama, but there are some stellar people in this fandom. You don't get enough credit for the incredible people that you are. So thank you.
All the love & squishies,
