| Dragon Spirit Fighter |
Author has written 17 stories for Aladdin, Mulan, Lilo & Stitch, Harry Potter, Law and Order: SVU, and Tin Man. Name: Dragon Spirit Fighter Occupation: college student in elementary education, Mad Scientist, actor, stagehand, self-employed Enjoys: writing (naturally), reading, drawing, medieval combat (Belegarth), music (both listening to and playing), arts and crafts, rock collecting Watches (movies): Disney movies, Bicentennial Man, Sister Act, horror flicks that are more creepy than scary (i.e. M. Night Shyamalan movies), rock operas, random others Writes: any story that might pop into my head. And there are a lot of them. It's a rare day that I don't have at least a dozen plot bunnies running around and causing general havoc alongside my nine muses (three of which actually work on anything you'll read here. The others all have business in other areas). Don't be surprised if you encounter several WIP stories here, because I'll often start posting a new one before a previous one is anywhere near being done. Alongside the stories I have posted here, you can usually count on at least ten others that are being worked on but not posted yet. Reads (fanfictions): just about anything that comes with a high recommendation from my friends or fellow authors. I refuse to read author-insert stories (aka "Mary-Sues"), stories with no plotline, and stories that have obviously not been spell- or grammar-checked. I like truer-to-life character development and lots of expressive details. I've been reading more categories of stories as of late. Favorite genre(s): drama, angst, and some humor (when it's actually funny) Writing style (stories): as of recently, very emotion-centered, darker fics, occasional humor (if I can make it funny enough) A word about my opinions, favorites, and reviews: Yes, I agree I am very picky about what and whose stories I read, but that is only because I am very picky about what I write. I like to think one can tell a lot about a person by how they write, and someone who thinks about their stories, proofreads and spell-checks has a much higher respect for their writing than someone who writes their stories and posts them without giving any thought to how their writing reflects on them, all while refusing to post anything else until they receive "x" number of reviews. I feel this is incredibly tacky, quite like telling someone you won't give them a gift unless they give you one first. I'm not trying to be rude to anyone, and if anyone takes personal offense to this I am sorry. Please note, I AM NOT CLAIMING THAT I AM PERFECT, because if anyone is far from being so it is me. Also, despite what some people think, I AM NOT TRYING TO MAKE EVERY AUTHOR ON FF.NET BECOME ME, because the entire point of this website is to express our ideas and write as we want to. Who am I to argue that? But when someone (you know who you are) messages me or emails me and requests that I read and review a story they've written, but then becomes aggravated when I don't fall head-over-heels in love with said story, they need a little thing I like to call a "reality check." NOT EVERYONE IS REQUIRED TO LIKE YOUR STORY; IF YOU REQUEST A REVIEW FROM SOMEONE, BE PREPARED FOR WHATEVER THEY MIGHT DISH OUT. I am very critical of my own writing, and am therefore very critical of the stories I read. Every story I read, my own included, is held to the exact same standards as the one before it, and my reviews tend to reflect that. It is never anything against the author, unless for some reason they have gotten my hackles up so much that I seriously can't stand them (again, a messy memory from my early days), but in the rare instance that that happens I simply will not read their stories and I will block them from reading any of mine. | |||||||||||||||
