I never expected myself to ever be joining this site. Quite honestly, I don't like fanfictions. A large percectage of fanfictions (that I've seen) are often filled with yaoi, excessive ammounta of fluff, bad grammar, fangirlish writing style, changing a canon character so much that they're hardly even the same character anymore, OC and Canon pairings (or OCs at all in general), or pairings of heterosexual people that would obviously never happen. Like Vincent and Yuffie from Final Fantasy VII. The canon characters are so incompatible with each other. I prefer canon, heterosexual pairings, and even then it can be sketchy. Vincent and Lucrecia for example. Canon, yet I don't like the pairing at all. Though I prefer it over yaoi or crack pairings any day!

Ranting aside, these are the main reasons that I would often avoid ever looking at fanfictions. However, rules can not be accepted except by exceptions. I have found a few fanfictions that I've stumbled across that for some odd reason I actually read, and liked. Some, I've even loved! Though 98% of fanfictions I look at I don't like, those few that do catch my eye have made me much more interested in the fanfiction world. I also wanted to keep track of these ones I like, and so I finally caved in and made an account.

Someday I may write a fanfiction or two myself, because I do enjoy writing. But I prefer creating my own characters in my own worlds over canon characters in canon worlds, because I have absolute free reign over my own creations, but I'm always restricted to an already set world, history, and characters/personality in other works. I don't feel I could ever know these characters well enough to write about them in situations they never encountered in their original show/game/book, since they're a product of someone else's mind, and I couldn't make them do the exact same thing their creator would have them do, making me feel... almost unworthy to write about them without corrupting them with my own ideas of how they could work.

And yet, I do it anyway, just because writing is so stinkin' fun!

So I don't really mind if anyone ever reads anything I write, since I'd probably never return the favor. All is wish is that I can do the characters justice, and that whomever reads my work will enjoy it, and those who don't enjoy will leave in peace.
