Hm. Randomness about yours truly.

Panera is my third place, and I enjoy their coffee more than Starbucks, and I'm a coffee snob. But at home, I drink starbucks, with local honey (for the allergies, you know), out of my graduation prezzie - a bolivian coffee set. Which graduation? I can't quite recall. It was one of them.

I try to live with integrity. I try to make what I say matters to me and what I actual do come closer and closer together, instead of staying static, or getting farther and farther apart. It's a work in progress, and I'm not always particularly successful, but I'm making an active effort at it. Some days are better than others. Some periods of my life are better than others, in this way.

When I remember, I'm a morning person. When I forget, I'm not.

I do not enjoy being in a liminal place. It's that place between here and there, that moment of transition that could last for years. It's the place in between your life altering decision and that decision actually playing out in your reality. Not fun. I like planes, though.

If I'm feeling happy and reasonably balanced, it's a sure bet I've been writing in the last twenty-four hours. If not, you can bet I haven't.

I do not believe in anything. I suspect that strongly held beliefs are the primary cause of suffering in the world - 'I have a truth and you do not, therefore it is okay for me to hate/hurt/kill you.' I do have deep suspicions about many things, however. Like that god is benevolent and closer than breathing, like that there is something good about every human being that makes them worthy of a basic dignity, like that love in all of its inexplicable, ineffible profundity is really the foundation of who we are as well as the product of living out our highest thought of ourselves and the world, like that we are all good candidates for enlightenment; even me, even you.

I don't like priests on a pedestal anymore than I like parishioners who check their brains at the door. The hierarchy of the modern christian church annoys me deeply in all its forms from Roman Catholic right down to the Protestant Congregationalists; we none of us have it right.

I totally dig progressive christian theology, even if I'm two decades behind in my reading. (I've been reading fic instead. Can you blame me?)

That blue icon that you'll notice representing me as my avatar on just about every forum I use? That is a picture I took of one of the most amazing waterfalls I've ever seen. And sure, I've not yet seen Victoria Falls, but I live near Niagara Falls and I've been to Foz de Iguazu. This waterfall was one of many in a long stretch, and even in this, the dry season, it was utterly magnificent. Three times higher than Niagara, thundering, gorgeous, yes, yes, yes, and I got about ten feet away from its base in the front of a very large boat in Milford Sound (which is actually a Fjord) on the South Island in New Zealand.

One day I'm going to have a beach house for my extended family to share on the gulf coast of Florida, where I was born.

If you have a hankering for yet more randomness in your life, you can find me on Twitter. :) Otherwise, feel free to go and check out my blog: SareLiz.com.

TWILIGHT STUFF:

If you're into Twilight, or reading my fic 'The Day The Earth Stood Still' do come over and play on the Twilighted Discussion Thread for 'The Day The Earth Stood Still' . Also, here is a blogpost from one of the NPR blogs about Men & Twilight that I found interesting, given some of the conversations I've had with two of the men who I know read my fic.

Looking for the icon for The Day The Earth Stood Still (And feel free to take these and upload them to your own servers.)
The old animated gif died, but the new one can find it here: http://revsarey.wordpress.com/files/2009/09/dess-icon-02.gif

Awards for The Day The Earth Stood Still
Nominated for:
The Bellies, 2009. (But we didn't win.)
The Indie Twifics, 2009. (A couple here, too, and tho we got to the final round, we didn't win any.)
The Razzle Dazzles, 2009. (Win any? Um, no.)
The Mystics, 2009. Eeeek! We won two of the three for which we were nominated! We didn't win 'The Sexiest' - The Office won that one, and no one is surprised. But we did win 'Mrs. Perfect' for the best characterization of Bella, and we did win 'The Golden Onion' for a plot that could compete with the actual saga. If you'd like to see the actual awards, here they are: Mrs. Perfect Mystic Award, and The Golden Onion Mystic Award. :)

(Critical?) Reviews for The Day The Earth Stood Still
The Perv Pack's Smut Shack reviewed The Day The Earth Stood Still in their Friday Roundtable Review, with wannakee as a guest reviewer. Please be aware that the blog itself is a 'mature adult only' sort of blog, but if you're reading the story you should fall under that category anyway. The very favorable review can be found here.

The Faithful Shipper reviewed The Day The Earth Stood Still - Beautiful Distraction doing the actual reviewing. The review can be found here.

EVERY OTHER FANDOM STUFF:

If you're curious about a certain piece of fiction (there are about 200 other finished stories to choose from) you know I've written but doesn't seem to be listed on here, I say to you in all sincerity: good luck in finding it on the way back machine somewhere on some defunct archive. Search for Sare Liz or Teknovamp at Yahoo. I apologize profusely, but I was actually in the process of uploading my stories so they could all be in one place when my hard drive crashed. No, I did not back up. No, I cannot find the disc of recovered stuff from the last time my laptop of mine died. So, yeah. They're all gone. It's all gone. :waves bye-bye: So if it's unfinished, and it's not in the Twilight fandom... yes, this includes my beautiful babies in HP and Ironman... then I don't have it anymore. I haven't had the heart to search for them myself. I might at some point, after the new year, just to see if I can find anything. I'm sure I can. And I'm sure it will be hard, because it will remind me of just how much I've permanently lost.

And yes, I do back up regularly, now.
