About Me:

To start, my name is Bridget. I'm a twenty-three year-old gal from Arkansas. I'm also known as "brimac13" on a lot of sites (livejournal and insanejournal among them) as well as most (if not all) of the forums I happen to have joined. The fandoms I write in, so far, are Harry Potter, X-Men: Evolution and the Movie, Bleach, and General Hospital. The fandoms I read, but don't write, in are (again, so far) Buffy the Vampire Slayer/Angel, Roswell, Veronica Mars, Heroes, InuYasha, Gokusen, The O.C., Doctor Who/Torchwood/The Sarah Jane Adventures, Firefly, Fairy Tail, Skins, Wolf Lake, Kyle XY, Being Human, Glee, True Blood, and Merlin. I also like a good crossover. Mostly BtVS crossovers but, if a story is good enough, I'll read a non-BtVS crossover (prime example of this being Malachai's "Physics of the Spin" over on TTH, which is a Gilmore Girls/Stargate crossover).

Reading Habits:

Likes and dislikes are vital in terms of my reading habits as I won't read anything that contradicts my favorite ships or bashes my favorite characters. I have a preference for stories with at least 1,000 words per chapter, but have been known to read lower word counts. Also, while I prefer het ships, I am not opposed to slash or femme-slash. As I see it, things like gender and sexual orientation don't really matter as long as the couple loves/cares about each other and works. Though I am a stickler for characterization and tend to go with the canon characterization in terms of sexuality.

Writing Habits:

As to my fic content, generally speaking, I tend to focus more on characterization and character growth than plot, hence the abundance of one-shots (wherein plot isn't necessarily a key element, per se, and it's easier to focus on a character or specific idea about a character). And though I've previously made forays into multi-chapterdom, I doubt I'll be doing it again anytime soon.

I'm sometimes a glutton for punishment. I like to write things that challenge me and pairings I dislike are definitely challenging. In "A Series of Drabbles" I've written one Harry/Hermione drabble (chapter 4), two Harry/Draco drabbles (chapters five and twelve), and a Scorpius/Rose drabble (chapter 13). I also have a Draco/Ginny one-shot in the same series (chapter six). "Watching Ginny Weasley" features some one-sided D/G (as well as several other ships, most of which are canon). "Friend of Mine" also mentions some past Draco/Ginny (and features other Ginny ships as well, but is ultimately Harry/Ginny). I think HP is the only fandom in which I've ever written ships that I didn't like.

Also, "Our Rogue," "Alternately, Our Rogue," "Lonely," "I Though I'd Love You a Little," "Anywhere But Here," "Falling Into Control," "Mutated and Confused," and "Welcome to Nowhere" have been deleted. I've, honestly, been wanting to do this for quite a while because I've been on this site for a bit under six years and have done a lot of maturing (both in my writing and in my personal life) since I first joined and, while I sometimes find it interesting to see how an author has progressed in his or her writing, I am embarrassed as all get-out by these fics. The only reason I hadn't done this yet is because, honestly, the stories I wanted to get rid of are the ones that have the most reviews (which completely puzzles me). I apologize to anyone who enjoyed these stories.

(1) While Remy/Rogue is very definitely my X-Men OTP, I do like other Rogue-involved ships. In the movies (not counting X-Men Origins: Wolverine), Bobby/Rogue is canon and is a pretty cute ship. I also like some of the other, non-Remy, Rogue/bad-boy ships such as John/Rogue. I have, in the past, enjoyed Wolverine/Rogue and Scott/Rogue (though mostly in X-Men: Evolution fanfic). So, you'll find several non-Remy/Rogue fics on my favorites list, but Remy/Rogue is definitely my OTP.

(2) Draco/Ginny was my first HP ship. I got started on it (and the whole HP series, actually) because of a BtVS/HP crosover fic. The ship made sense to me at the time because I hadn't read all of the books, however, as I read them and then finished the 5th book, I just couldn't see it becoming canon. Harry/Ginny, however, held a lot more appeal (and not just for it being the more likely of the two to become canon). So, if you happen to browse my favorites, you will find some D/G stories on there. I don't support the ship anymore, but I do remember reading some D/G stories that I enjoyed immensely at the time (one that I think I'd enjoy even now is "Rising From Ashes" by Arabella and Jedi Boadicea, which isn't hosted here on ff.net, but can be found here at its Yahoo!Group).

(3) Initially, when I first began reading the book series True Blood is based on (the Sookie Stackhouse series by Charlaine Harris), I shipped Bill/Sookie. But, as the books progressed, I began to prefer Eric to Bill (betrayal bothers me). So, when the tv series started on HBO, I couldn't bring myself to still like Bill/Sookie--even if they don't follow the books closely enough and Bill's betrayal isn't relevant to the tv series.
