Hayden Bell has successfully evaded University of Nebraska at Lincoln by employing himself as a street performer in the Old Market. Kelly Erickson is watching her mother die of cancer, and Jane Harris is watching her best friend march off to Iraq. Frank Kuzchenitsh is stuck in a dead end job, Ryan Fairfield just filed for divorce, and Thomas Stall is successfully making his escape via an impromptu Colorado road trip. Through Jennifer Castello's small portraits of those who have found themselves on the threshold of change and monotony, the city of Omaha comes to life in a story of growing up, standing up, and taking chances.

~~~~~~ ABOUT "MORDRED" ~~~~~~
I'm thinking I should probably update my bio, seeing as its been a few years and things have changed. I am now in my final year of college, and five years out of writing "Forever Alive." I'm a writing major looking at MFA programs for next year, and I'm currently working on a novel with all the spare time I've got to go out and be a yuppie-esque coffee house whore (although, I assure you, I know I'm a tool).
This year has been an extremely busy year for me. My plays were done everywhere from Chicago to Los Angeles, and the best part about that? I got to go to Disneyland for the very first time! I'm still working on my novel, and I also have some VERY exciting news.
By the end of 2009, I will hopefully have a book published. God. It's a short stories collection, entitled "The Astronaut from Nebraska," and it will be available to all and everyone who has accesible internet or cute little independent-run bookstores. More information to come soon, but I hope you all will support me in this exciting new endeavor.
In the summer of 2003, I started writing the massive 1400 page monster of the Marauder's history for my little brothers. I was fifteen-years-old and going into my sophomore year of high school. A year later, I was sixteen and writing my last chapter on "Forever Alive." I'm always blown away at what exactly "Forever Alive" has become. When I began writing "Forever Alive," I didn't think much would come of it. It was my first fanfiction, and it was my last fanfiction. I'm not really a part of the fanfiction community, and I've never considered myself the "pro" or "connosieur" of things fanfiction-y. So whatever came out of "Forever Alive," I'm happy it touched people. I'm happy it's still being read today. And I'm happy I got to experience the Marauders' story when I did. I've not touched it for five years, and yet I'm still meeting people in college who followed the series as it was being posted. It's really creepy to start to have a conversation concerning fanfiction with a friend of a friend and have your penname mysteriously surface.
Other than all that stuff, I'm just a college girl who does stupid things with her friends and keeps procrastinating her homework until the night before the final. You know the type. Below you'll find little blurbs about my stories to give you a taste before you start to read them. Thanks for visiting my bio page!
SUMMARY: Started in August of 2003 as a bedtime story for my little brothers, this story has become a great joy in my life. It is the saga of Moony, Wormtail, Padfoot, and Prongs in a way you will never see them again. Based on the concepts and characters of J.K. Rowling, this epic follows four boys from the first day of school to their untimely death. This tragedy is brought to life through sorrow, happiness, and the never ending spirit of hope.
QUOTES:
"Someone messes with one of us, they mess with all of us."
- Remus Lupin
"We Solemnly swear that we are up to no good. On this fortnight of October 31st, 1975, the four Marauders agree to follow each other until death do us part. We also agree to always keep secret the Great Power that we posess. Oh, yes … and one more thing. To make Snivellus’s lfe during and after Hogwarts a living hell."
- The Marauders
"It draws nearer."
- The Wolf
“I want revenge, Sirius. I want revenge on the man who killed them. I want to be there to stop him when he comes after us. I’m not hiding anymore, Sirius. He wants me, I’ll find him. He wants my friends, I’ll stop him. And he wants to hurt the people that I love, I’ll hurt him.”
- James Potter
"He really loves me."
- Lily Evans
"Now a man can make a difference in the world, even if it is a small one. We all have fates, including me. We can choose to make that fate one that will bring hope, or one that will bring destruction. Times are changing, and we must grow wiser for it. So now I must encourage you … I must beg you … that when you leave these school walls and enter this world, to not be as idiotic and imbecilic as the generation before you.”
- Albus Dumbledore
"True heroes are forgotten."
- Alastor Moody
"I don’t know everything about life and marriage and happiness. But I do know what love is. And I do know that when love is real, and when love is in its strongest form, it is the most powerful thing on this earth. It kills, saves lives, heals wounds, and most of all, brings hope. That is what you have done for me, Lily. You have brought me hope."
- James Potter
"There’s a bigger cause out there. It’s bigger than any of us here. But we stick together, all right? We stick together and look out for each other. Because you four are all I’ve got left. And I’m not going to see you die. Forever alive, all right? We’re not going to die."
- Sirius Black
"Je ne mourrai pas."
- Remus Lupin
“The ones who lived, who truly lived, they make an imprint on our lives. They leave their mark in our hearts. They change the course of our fates and our destinies. Those are the real heroes. The ones who cared enough for a human being that they rewrote their futures.”
- Alastor Moody
REVIEWS:
"My first thoughts were skeptical, since your story, or novel, I should say, was 118 chapters long, and had received 1475 reviews. This made me think it was one of those stupid, angsty things that culminates in a decade long sappy love story. But I read your author's note, and found that your views were like mine, and much to my liking. I also found that your story was very good, and I almost cried on the first chapter!" -stmaryspeakstofaeries
"It was so wonderful! You did a very good job on it, and stuck with the books almost perfectly!"
- dragontemper3
"It has touched me in many ways, and shown me the true friendship The Marauders had."
- Vivian
"I absolutly loved this story. It has to be one of the best pieces written here! Your writing expressed all their feelings so clearly and it made me feel the emotions, almost as if I were them."
- blood red stain
"I really don't know how to describe Forever Alive. It's just...incredible. You put amazing depth into your characters. This was like reading something by JKR herself ..."
- Velvet Skies
(COMPLETED)
SEVERUS (July, 2009)
COMPLETED
SUMMARY: A short fanfiction about Severus Snape and his impending induction into the servitude of the Dark Lord. That is, until he hears Lily Evans is getting married ...
QUOTES:
"I might be a devil, Pettigrew. But you're a downright monster."
- Severus Snape
"Lily and Sev. Forever. Always."
PRIDE AND FEAR (August, 2004 - _)
UPDATED AS OF AUGUST 6, 2004
SUMMARY: A spin-off of "Forever Alive," "Pride and Fear" delves deep into the heart of one of the most hated and despised characters to date: Severus Snape. Yet there is a new story to be told. A much darker one than James knew. A more saddening one than Sirius found. And a much more painful one than Remus felt.
QUOTES:
"See, you have to understand something: Severus has this obsession with James Potter. Hates his lot, he does."
- Lucius Malfoy
"We all saw you! Bet it was the most exciting moment of your life, getting told you could be one of Voldemort's goons, you little greaseball."
- Sirius Black
"The question is not whether or not you are doing the right thing, Severus. The question truly is whether or not you believe it is the right thing."
- Albus Dumbledore
"I was born a villian. James Potter was born a hero. It is the way of the world."
- Severus Snape
REVIEWS:
"Forever Alive was amazing, and I already think Pride and Fear will be the same."
- Velvet Skies
"Mordred you have done it again. First it was with "Forever Alive" now you are doing it with "Pride and Fear." I consider you one of the best fan fiction authors on this website and you have proven me right with this latest installment."
- Sirius Black 161
NON-HARRY POTTER FANFICTION
PHOENIX (FMA) - Another one of my small obsessions, although nothing will ever take HP's place. My friend and I had a small fanfic battle in 2007 and we each wrote a one-shot depicting Mustang's return from Ishbal. Check it out, I'm pretty happy with it.
EPILOGUE (Crucible) - A monologue by Elizabeth Proctor at the end of the play.
THE GOOD MAN (Bible) - The true story of Judas Iscariot's betrayal. (Note: I have placed a note about "The Good Man" on my profile because I wish to explain myself. In no way am I affiliated with any religion or any anti-religion; this short story was written because the drama between Judas and Jesus as is shown in the just-released text of "The Book of Judas" is very compelling, and no matter what your beliefs are, the story is just friggin' amazing. How I view religious stories, like the story of Jesus and his death, is through any sort of lens I would use on any other sort of story, be it historical or fictional. It doesn't matter whether or not you believe it or I believe it or if anyone believes it -- it's just an amazing story. So there are some interesting comments on "The Good Man," and none of their ideas or beliefs do I agree or disagree with. I wish there was some place else to stick a Jesus/Judas story other than "Bible" fanfiction, but that's the way the world runs. Sorry this note was so long, but after receiving a comment about how the rapture is sure to come soon and the reviewer just can't wait, I felt as if I needed to distance myself from any sort of fuddy duddy that shows up on this story. I am the biggest advocate of respecting all religions, so no. I am not awaiting the rapture by any means. Bottom line: Please read it. But please read it as a story and not as a Bible story.)
