Author has written 9 stories for Friday Night Lights, Pride and Prejudice, and Sense and Sensibility.

I never played high school football - in fact I didn't go to high school - although I did play the real kind of football, you know, that you play with your foot, on an amateur team overseas for half a season. As far as gridiron football (sounds better than American football, doesn't it?) I never played it beyond flag or touch in junior high, and after a 20-year hiatus, being a fan of the game has become one of my guilty pleasures. In 2012 I watched every single episode of Friday Night Lights over a few months - and then immediately wanted to watch them all again.

I've always liked to write since I was a child - in fact for some years I worked as a history researcher and as a reporter - but I haven't always been able to stick with and complete all the ideas and projects that have wandered into my mind. I spent some years as a writer of other kinds of fanfiction and in the process left behind a bunch of stories dropped a couple of computers ago, some completed short pieces, and a bunch of ideas that never got beyond my hard drive, or my internal hard drive, you know, my brain. I guess you could say that my relationship to writing is like Landry Clarke's to football: I like it, I can recognize my limitations and the fact that there are a bunch of them, I'm definitely not talented enough to start on the first team, but I can play hard and occasionally, I might throw a nice block or catch a touchdown, or hit that 45-yarder to win a game (without really expecting it).

Since I'm writing this profile before submitting any stories, I have no idea what kind of stuff is going to come out of the rickety laptop I'm using. In the beginning, probably short stuff focusing on a few characters at a time. For now, I'd rather start things that I can finish than try out for varsity and fall flat on my nose. (or anybody else's for that matter) Expect some level of quirkiness, possible inter-cultural elements, and eventually a few original characters who might or might not know what they're doing there.

Clear Eyes? Actually, mine don't work too well.
Full Hearts? That would mean room for nothing more, and I'm not quite done yet.
That means I can lose, Coach, but I can still get back up and hit life like a blitzing linebacker.
