Once upon a time a long time ago, I wrote a Harry Potter romantic
comedy with a happy, sappy ending. Then, I discovered a Canadian
TV show, called Degrassi, which really began to call to that developing
angsty side of me. All of the sudden, all the stories I wrote
were not about happy endings, fairy tales, and romantic fluff.
Suddenly, my stories were about trying to keep the characters in
character and
talking about emotions and sorrow and regret and sadness, and not about
a happy, fluffy ending. My muse became less about fairy tales and
romanticism, and more about reality, and I liked it. I began to
discover the joys of writing about realistic things including all the
bad things in life, instead of just the good. After all, life is about
a lot more than happy, sappy
endings, and I have discovered I would rather write about more than
just that.
If
you are interested in my stories, here's my works (I'm only listing
Degrassi ones, because my Harry Potter stuff was a long time ago!)
Multi-chapter fiction:
Redemption
-- The act or process of changing for the better, freeing from
what distresses or harms, helping to overcome something detrimental,
atoning for, offsetting the bad effect of, making worthwhile, making
good, getting or winning back, freeing from the consequences of
sin, or rescueing. Redemption has so many different
meanings. What happens when a well intentioned guidance counselor
brings together Jimmy, Spinner, Jay, Emma, and Toby to try to deal with
what happened last year? Will each of the students find their own
redemption? Chapter 13 posted -- Strange Connections
One shots:
Whimper -- Angst. Most relationships at Degrassi ended in a bang -- theirs ended in a whimper.
Set
Her Free -- definitely a different story for me. It's a Jay/Alex
story, and in it, I assume that Jay actually has a heart and feels
badly for what he did to Alex. It may seem a little
out-of-character -- I don't know. It was different, and
difficult, and very tough for me to write.
Pink:
Pure angst -- meant to make you think -- a girl's thoughts at one of
those worst moments a 16 year old girl could have. Based on the
many opinions at DB forums(i'm dfg1991 there) I read that said Liberty
couldn't be pregnant because she is too smart and too responsible.
Empty:
By popular demand, I did a follow-up to the story Pink. It all
started with a pink line on a white stick -- this is how the story
ends.
Never Look Back -- One of those cliche fictions -- not
my normal stuff. It's a part angsty closure and part romantic
fluffiness Sean/Emma/Jay love triangle.
Letting
Go: It's Emma's special day, and someone is having trouble
letting go. It's pretty fluffy, and not my normal angsty style
(although I do have a fluffy Harry Potter romantic comedy that I wrote
before I became all angsty drama). It's not a Emma and anybody
story -- it's actually about Emma and Snake's father-daughter
relationship.
I also have a series of season 4 reflections I am working on (one-shots)
No
Regrets (Jay) -- I try to give you a look at everyone's favorite
villians thoughts -- does he feel guilt for what's he's done?
My Regrets (Emma) -- She was almost shot... who does she blame for everything that happened this year?
Too Late for Regret (Rick) -- My darkest fiction ever... let's look into the mind of a boy at his worst...
Should I Regret That I'm Happy? (Ashley) --Ashley's thoughts on what she left behind
Nothing to Regret (Sean) -- He has nothing to regret, because he did the right thing, but does he really feel that way?
Crazy Regrets (Craig) -- Hardest one for me to write, and not the best
one in the series, but it deals with Craig's thoughts on his illness
and everything he has done.
You Made Me Regret That I Loved You (Alex) -- How does she feel about her break-up with Jay?
I Regret That You're Gone (Ellie) -- Again, probably not the best,
because I really had trouble feeling this character, but it's her
reflecitions on Sean's leaving.
Works
in progress: Redemption, Chapter 14 -- Chapter yet to be titled-- will
be from Toby's point of veiw. Chapter 13 had us with Emma, who
had ran out of the session -- so now we will go back to what is
happening in the session while Emma's chapter was occuring.
I'm
currently also working on Jimmy's and Spinner's reflections for the
one-shot series-- will come eventually. I also have works in progress
called Save the Best For Last (song fic -- undecided coupling -- will
be posted here without lyrics, check EGA at Degrassi-boards for song
fic version), Complicated -- Craig/Emma, and a yet to be named Sean/Emma -- so, stay tuned, one of them may pop
up soon!
Thank you everyone for feedback on my stories! I write
because I enjoy writing, but I still appreciate feedback, especially
constructive criticism. idontknowanything
