Anyway, I love writing; that includes both fanfiction and original fiction. I'm currently working on an original story (haven't exactly come up with a title yet) about anthropomorphic animals who are given the gift of free will, thus, they could be described as animal-like humans. Besides that, my main character is Faelus (fae-liss). His roots come from a seal, in other words, he's like a selkie. He was adopted by human parents and their son, but basically the story is about him trying to find his roots, who his parents were, e.t.c. Mercaid (murs-aid) is a human who, at first, acts as his "trail guide" but does end up accompanying him on his mission. Faelus received word from a neighboring village that there is a community of these animal-people (whom are called "Gifted") that have a connection with his parents.
I'm not gonna ruin the whole thing, but the plot gets deeper and there are a lot of plot-twists. There is a variety of characters, including a sage-like bull Gifted named Arrow, a young, enthusiastic elephant seal named Rink, and a villain (a story isn't complete without one ;-) right?) named Zolgian (zole-gaian.) I have to say it isn't a story I plan on sharing with the public (I've reached almost 90 pages) because it's more like a thing I wrote for myself. Therefore, I was kinda sloppy with explanations and side details, considering I'm the only one who's going to read it and already know that stuff.

Fanfiction

Aboard the Flying Dutchman ~ Pirates of the Caribbean
I didn't plan on sharing this story at first. I wrote it word for word in a notebook and modified it a bit when I typed it. I started this last year, and it's still a work in progress. This one is told from the point of view of an original character of mine, named Mae, who is sentenced to serve the Flying Dutchman. The main focus of the story is about her adjusting to her new life and coming to terms with the fact that she's going to be stuck on the Flying Dutchman forever. Her prime distraction throughout the story is her infatuation with Maccus. It causes her to retreat further into herself and her thoughts, while still maintaining the company of Tanger (tan-jer) who's also a rather new recruit. Anyway, the story flows with a series of events, of course, but I kind of wanted the main idea to focus on Mae and Maccus. I tried not to make this a typical love story with Maccus immediately taking a shine to Mae; in fact, in the story, he hardly notices her. I tried to make it unique in that it's the female character who has a thing for the male, instead of vice versa. By the third chapter, they do share something special, but I have to remind myself that these are pirates she's dealing with; not fun-loving party animals (outside of the rum of course, heh.) I wanted the interaction between the two to come at a slow and steady pace, otherwise I wouldn't have felt it was realistic enough. Maccus sort of acts as Mae's only connection she had to her previous life, meaning the love she has for him (or the feeling of love) albeit he is unaware of this.
I'm making little progress with it due to writer's block. If anyone has any suggestions, please feel free to drop me a line. =)

Dance With Destiny ~ The Island of Dr. Moreau
Based off the 1996 movie. This one was difficult for me, because I couldn't exactly define Sayer of the Law's character. He's the one I was mesmerized with the most when I first saw the movie, but not a lot is known about him, apart from him reciting the Law. I don't know what to make of him, or how he thinks, so I can't say this short little fic does him any justice. Still, he's my favorite character, and I tend to only write about characters that make a particularly strong impression on me.

In Favor of the Law ~ The Island of Dr. Moreau
Like the above, this one was a bit complex to come up with. I can't possibly imagine what Sayer of the Law's childhood must have been like. I don't even know if he ever was a humanlike child (were Moreau's creations spawned, or did they evolve?) But if it's anything like him being young and innocent and generally oblivious to the world, no doubt it was a confusing situation for him to be in. But I wanted him to seem like an obedient child from the beginning. Not obsequious, but knowing his place and purpose. And yeah, I know Montgomery wasn't on the island as long as I implied. =/

I have more pieces of fiction, but a lot of them are older; some of them I'm considering taking down, just because they barely reflect my style of writing, now that it's been some time.

Fanfiction isn't something I write a lot. Original fiction (IMHO) allows a lot more freedom and flexibility. With fanfiction I always have to worry about keeping characters IC and staying within the boundaries. Not so for original fiction (though I admit I don't do that on a daily basis either. =D )

Note: I'm working on a Star Trek: Enterprise fanfic centering around a Xindi/human pairing, but have no intention of posting it on this site. If you're interested in reading it, send me an e-mail and I'll see what I can do - and no, I don't have a problem with people getting a sneak peek. X)
The story is written in snippets of memory from both sides, so if you're confused about the flow and what's going on, that would be why. >>
Mind you, I didn't originally intend to share this with anyone. I just thought I'd be nice, 'cause I hate it when I want to read a story and the author either took it down or won't send it to me. DX Oh well.
