BIOGRAPHY

Hi all! My name is Crystal and I'm 20 years old. My PenName use to be Sailor Usagi Chiba, but I recently changed it to The Crystal Rose because, being an author I don't want my focus to be on one specific story/subject/genre. I was born in Toledo, Ohio on July 2nd, 1989 sometime very early in the morning. I am what they call a "miracle baby" because my mom wasn't suppose to have kids because she had endometriosis since she was nineteen and I was born when she was thirty-two. The name fits me very well because once I was born, I nearly died. I was strangled by the umbilical cord--which was wrapped around my neck very tightly four times--and I ended up being born a "smurf." (i.e. blue in the face, and beginning to turn purple.)

Anyway, on to happier memories about myself, I graduated from Calvin M. Woodward High School in 2007 with honors and a 30,000 scholarship to Bowling Green State University--where I attended for a year. I transferred to the University of Toledo so I can be closer to home and I changed my major roughly five times, bouncing back and forth between Education, Literature, Social Working, Computer Engineering, and finally I'm now taking Psychology. I minor in Creative Writing/Literature for my passion for writing.

WHAT'S IN A PEN NAME? (The true meaning behind The Crystal Rose)

Now I can finally explain the meaning behind my pen name. Yes, it involves a few stories. I use to Role Play online with a few friends and I played a girl named Rose. Not much to explain there, however, I quit after a while and joined Fanfiction.net. Anyways, another story behind this is my favorite flower just so happens to be a rose. I don't care what color it is, but I believe roses are the most beautiful flowers out there and they resemble me so much. The thorns on the rose resembles my shell. I have troubles trusting people because I was hurt in the past by very close personal friends and because of that I've done some things I'm not very proud of, and therefore, I recieved my "thorns." Now, Crystal is my name, however, I had an ex who use to call me Crystal Rose as a nick name and I fell in love with the name. He broke up with me and to this day I still use the name because to me it's beautiful. The Crystal part also resembles the tears I've spilled over the past and how I'm trying to look forward to the future. I've learned to have faith whether I show it or not, and the use of my pen name reminds me to have faith every day because of what it resembles...

MY WORK

Ever since I was little, I loved to write. I wrote poems, songs, and stories. It's became my hobby.

I was working on a book called Finding Herself, but I gave up on it. I didn't have enough feeling to put into it. So, I gave up on it a while ago. Now, I'm just working on my fanfiction and hopefully, I'll get back on it eventually. For now, it's just the fanfiction I'm working on. It's sad, however, because ever since I entered college, I lost track of my fanfics and haven't had the time, inspiration, or place to work on them. Especially being that I am a first-year student, it's even harder because all the pressure of college is around me and trying to keep my grades up so I can make it into the Education Program (Methods, it's a lot of work.)

I have, so far, wrote five stories; four for Sailor Moon, and one for Peter Pan. I do try to update as best and as up-to-date as possible, but I do have other responsibilities that get in the way. My current project use to be A Journal's Secret, however, I recently aquired a job and I also go to school full-time, so I barely have any time to myself, let alone having time to spend with my boyfriend, friends, my mother, and fitting writting somewhere in the middle. It's became nearly impossible. So at this moment, all of my long-term projects, (which is everything) as been put on temporary hiatus. However, A Guardian for Me and Hidden Secrets has been put on permanent hiatus... My apologies!

HOW TO KNOW I'VE UPDATED

The best way to know when I've updated is to subscribe to my stories because I don't send out emails to let my readers know I've updated. The best way to get me to update is by reviewing! I love encouragement and I absolutely love the attention! Knowing my readers actually care for my work inspires me to write more. Flames also inspire me to write, even if they do hurt my feelings. However, I will not update if I am slandered. I will postpone an update if I recieve a slander review. I only review when I am given respect and in return, I update out of respect for my readers. If you don't like my stories, that's fine and I'll gladly accept any suggestions, but if you rant on about how I should've done better, I'll postpone an update. I'm huge on respect and when I recieve disrespect, it pokes a hole in my "bubble". So, please, don't disrespect!

Commentary
I'm really glad this story is finally finished! To be perfectly honest, I wasn't sure if I had the inspiration to finish it, but thanks to my readers, I was able too! This story is basically about Usagi. She finds Mamoru has cheated on her with one of her best friends, but turns out that it was her plan all a long. I don't want to give the story completely away because I like it when people read and review!

This story was heading in the wrong direction all-together. It was about Usagi becoming a snob when she was finally recognized by an important talent agent for her singing and she turns on her best friends. It didn't get very far until I discontinued it. To those who did like it, I'm very sorry and I hope I've made up for it with my other stories.

Commentary
This has turned out to be my readers favorite story from my collection. It's focused on Usagi and how she grew up. Her father is an alcoholic and quite abusive in the story, and no one knew but Usagi and her journal. Mamoru found her journal and read it, and finally discovered the true Usagi. It goes back and forth, and is pretty dramatic. Please read it and review!

Commentary
This story is a One-Shot and it's about Setsuna confessing her deep feelings for Mamoru. They kind of go out of character, but it made the story more interesting. Some people weren't that happy with it because of the ending and how out of character Setsuna was, but overall, I'm happy how it turned out. Every good writer has their flaws!

Mamoru finds out he has a sister named Rose Taylor that lives in Toledo, Ohio and he goes searching for her so he can finally have a family. From here on out, if I say any more, it'll give it all away, so I'm sorry, but you must read it!

UPDATES AND NEWS

One-Shot Projects Information and Status

Currently, since I am college and working a job at the same time, while trying to save up enough money for my own apartment, writing has been put on the back burner. However, I'm trying to think of you all as my readers, my fans, etc. I want to keep you happy and entertained. And writing is also a way to relax myself, and I don't want to lose touch with my passion (I fear that's going to happen if it continues to simmer on the back burner...). I will be updating ONLY one-shots until either the winter break (which is highly unlikely), or the summer of 2010. I will be updating one-shots for the following categories and then some:

- Sailor Moon
- Peter Pan
- Twilight

I do apologize if you have lost interest in my stories or in me as a writer, but if you are a working individual or a college student, or both, then hopefully you will understand my stress level... Thank you to everyone who continues to review my incomplete stories, however, I appreciate that you still care!

A Journal's Secret has yet to be decided whether it will be taken off or not, however, the first two will be gone for good. They were both heading in the wrong direction, and I don't have the time or patience to fix and re-write them, and at this moment, I don't have the patience for A Journal's Secret. But since many like it, I am giving it some further thought. However, the first two will be gone by the end of this week (Saturday, September 5, 2009).
