Author has written 57 stories for Lord of the Rings, Dark is Rising Sequence, Chronicles of Narnia, House, M.D., Harry Potter, Hunger Games, Divergent Trilogy, and Supernatural.

I am a college student studying writing and religion. I love writing, and I have since I was seven. I love creating characters, setting up plots, and most of all, playing with emotions. I also like to get inside the head of other people's characters, hence my presence in fanfiction. While original fiction will always be my concentration, fanfiction has become an "indulgence" of a sort-I get to play in someone else's sandbox, which means I don't have to build it.

I came a cross fanfiction at about age thirteen, wrote a few Lord of the Rings fanfiction and posted them, most of which I had the foresight to delete from fanfiction.net (they were just like all the other fanfictions thirteen-year-olds write). A few years ago I remembered what attracted me to fanfiction in the first place.I am a Christian, and it's important to me, so often my Narnia stories have a faith-based aspect. Narnia was one of the ways I really learned to explore my faith growing up, and that means a lot to me. That being said, this is normally regulated to just Narnia stories at the moment, and I don't feel a need to put faith-based aspects in stories where faith isn't a large part of the canon.

As a note: I have been given many compliments and questions on my username, but, even though I wish I came up with it all by myself, the shadow proves the sunshine is the title of a very thought-provoking Switchfoot song.

I now have a blog devoted to information and backgrounds on my fanfics and my writings. You can check it out by clicking the link under my homepage. I don't know if I'll ever really update it again(unless I finally get around to working on Falls the Shadow and then I'm sure I'll have extra stuff that didn't make the final cut).

Fandom Thoughts:

Chronicles of Narnia: I think the Chronicles might be my favorite books until I die. I've just read them so many times and written so much about them that I can't help but to feel emotionally involved with each story. I love writing fan fiction in this fandom because there's so much that C.S. Lewis left to explore. It does, however, sadden me to see the Narnia section of this site over-run with romance. While there can definitely be a place for some romance in the stories(well-written, non-incest, non-slash romance, that is), it is not the point of the story. That being said, I love the Pevensies, with Edmund as my favorite, and Eustace and Jill, the latter pair being probably the only Narnia "romance" I would ever write.

Hunger Games: I like these books for much the same reason I love Narnia: there's so much left for us to explore. However, to be fair, while Katniss does have many admirable qualities, I find her to be annoying far more often than any other main character I've ever read, and a hypocrite(mainly because of the whole "emotional breakdown" she goes through in Mockingjay. I don't fault her for the breakdown -- frankly, what she's been through would cause almost anyone to break down -- but rather the fact she never realizes that she's now just like her mother after her father died, and never bothers to feel sorry or apologize for it). My favorite characters are Peeta, Finnick, Foxface, and Mr. Mellark, of all people. I know he's not in the story much, but it's obvious Peeta inherits his kindness from his father and I always wanted to know more about him and Katniss' mom.

Harry Potter:
Here's the thing: Harry Potter was my first fandom, really. I've been reading the books since I was nine. However, despite my love for the series, I've never really felt like writing fan fiction for this fandom(except for that one Narnia/HP crossover I wrote). Maybe it's because Rowling's works are so expansive that they give the illusion of a complete world(even though I'm well-aware there's plenty to explore), or maybe my brain just doesn't do well with the cast of characters. Whatever the reason, it seems highly unlikely I'll be writting Harry Potter fics any time soon.

These are the main fandoms that have always attracted me, but I've written for others as well. Currently, those are the Divergent series, House, M.D., The Dark is Rising, and of all things, Supernatural. Despite all the horror elements I normally hate, I've become hooked on the Supernatural story line, and I've resigned myself to the fact that I actually am enough of a fan to actually write something for the series.

Why I Love Words:

In a thousand words I can have the Lord's Prayer, the 23rd psalm, the Hippocratic oath, a sonnet by Shakespeare, the Preamble to the Constitution, Lincoln's Gettysburg Address, and almost all of the Boy Scout Oath. Now exactly what picture were you planning to trade for all that?-Roy H. Williams

Stories:

Through Shadow and Fire is now finished.

Falls the Shadow- I posted the prologue as a way to make myself finish this project. Don't worry, I have every intention of finishing, and I know exactly what I want to write. Now, just to write it. I hope to have the majority of it done before I start posting it regularly, so I can avoid all the crazy long breaks I had during Through Shadow and Fire.

Turnings is now finished.

Stars Not Wanted is the main story in the works right now. My updates are fairly infrequent, but I expect them to be much better than some of the ones found in Through Shadow and Fire. This story will be a shorter chapter story, probably finishing out somewhere between seven and ten chapters.

Revised Stories:

Well, I never thought I would open up the stories in the "finished" folder on my computer, but here I am, doing just that. I've been going over some of my fanfics recently and while I don't dislike them, there are some grammatical errors and typo that make me cringe every time I see them(that's what 3 years of formal writing education will do to you, I suppose), so I will be revising most of them. I don't plan to change much, just sentence-structure things and maybe expand a scene or two or add a bit of dialogue, but I will post updates here as I continue to go through my stories.

Tapping on Wadrobes

Grasping for a Crown

The Council of Brothers (this one is the most heavily edited. I added more Supernatural cannon, made the entire story longer, and edited most of the dialogue to make it more in-character.)

Reviews

Sometimes, I am really, really, terribly, awfully bad about responding to reviews. I've been on the site for a very long time, and often I still forget we even have the options to respond to reviews (I know, it's been around for years, but I still think of it as a new fanfiction.net addition). I am trying to work on this, but I want to put this in my profile so that you know I really do appreciate every review, even if it's just one word. I appreciate the reviews that ask questions, the reviews that are just a few words describing what the reader feels when they read my story, and the constructive reviews. If you've reviewed, whether on every chapter of every story, or just once, thank you.
