Author has written 44 stories for Final Fantasy VII. Nov. 23rd, 2008: Today I posted a Vin.Tifa called Ellipsis. It was a gift-fic for is_bel over on livejournal. Presents are fun, no? Next, I might post a Tseng backstory fic. I'm debating about that one because it draws pretty heavily from Before Crisis. It always remains sad to me that most of the fandom has no idea that that lovely little addition to the Complication even happened. (Then again, Veld is actually a character in the ff.net drop-down list now. That's an improvement, don't you think?) Yes, I realize that it is possibly immature to love FF when you're twenty (shit, twenty-two now) ... So, I'm so old I'm geriatric and my bones creak in poor weather. I've been on this site for almost four years now. Four years. That's longer than I've been in university. I don't really care about pairings. I have certain favourite characters and others that leave me feeling profoundly indifferent (Yazoo, for example). My personal philosophy is that you can do whatever you want with your characters... so long as Vincent still sounds like Vincent, Cloud like Cloud, and Tifa like Tifa. This is a fandom - there are no rules. But, fanfiction is still writing. If you can't make me believe what you're saying, I won't enjoy your story. So, I break rules in my writing. But no one has accused me of being OOC yet. Certain themes repeat in my writing if you squint for them. I enjoy hunting for elusive things. I enjoy the dichotomy between what's said and what can't be said - the differences between what we think and what we do. I use first person liberally because I think that it's a good way to get to the heart of a question. My writing's sometimes sparse because I don't use a lot of additional phrases. I adore imagery but don't write description. I might tell you about sun falling in from a bedroom window but don't ask me to give you a room layout. I'm working on that. But, honestly, how badly do you really want to know about Vincent Valentine's furniture? French is my second language (my father's mother tongue). I use it liberally in my writing because some things just can't be expressed well in English. It also lets me make puns in two languages (Sans is a blatant example of that). Other miscellaneous details? I've been a martial artist for a long time. It gives me a certain slant when I'm writing. It's why I have such sympathy for Tifa. And my Veld Dragoon is Verdot from Final Fantasy Before Crisis. The lovely Verdot (also known as Cendrillo) and Drakonlily (just Drakonlily) have been writing him longer than that translation's been available. They're old writely-friends of mine and are nice enough to let me borrow their muse. One day this fandom will wake up to the fact that there are wonderful stories hidden in FFbc. Elena had an older sister, you know. A Turk before she was. They hated each other passionately but Elena still joined the team when her sister was gone. There were 12 Turks originally, not four. Kalm burnt down long before Nibleheim did. And Veld lost his family there. There was another AVALANCHE that Shinra wiped out years before Barret ever came up with the name. Who do you think served as his model? Luckily he misinterpreted the message. That is all I will say about it. General Disclaimer Since everyone seems to put one in, I thought I should have a disclaimer. However, since I've all ready posted so much stuff and I don't really want to go through the trouble of changing everything, I'm just going to put my disclaimer right here. First off, I own nothing of Final Fantasy 7 (sadly). Therefore, characters, items, magic, and settings that I borrow in my stories that happen to be from FF7 obviously do not belong to me. However, any original characters, plotlines, and settings that I create are mine. If I use any other outside sources (i.e. quotations, song lyrics, etc.) I'll put that information in the story itself. Wow. If you read all of that, you're pretty amazing.
