Author's Notes:

Despite my reluctance to have more than one story going at a time, I've put my first chapter of Princess and the Tin Man up. I couldn't help it. I was drawn more to completing that story line than I was Unsilenced. There's just something about Wyatt Cain that Zell Dincht can't compete with...I think it's the fedora but I'm not for certain.

All of my Final Fantasy VIII stories revolve around one another. You don't have to read one to understand the others, but if you read more than one, you'll notice the hints and references to the other fics. You'll also notice characters from the other stories making cameos.

CHRONOLOGICAL ORDER OF STORIES (BEGINNING ON JUNE 1st - this is just a date that I decided the game ended on. Please don't make a fuss about its accuracy, I needed a date to build a timeline off of for organizational purposes.

Darkened Ice - Begins on Sept. 1st, 3 months after the defeat of Ultimecia. Squall and Zell are both injured in a mission and Squall's injuries nearly kill him. Zell manages to keep him alive but now Squall has to manage to adapt to life without his sight. Through Rinoa and Laguna he finally learns how to enjoy life and to trust.

Leather-bound Secret - Begins on Sept. 19th, just 18 days after the beginning of Darkened Ice. Before the game Irvine lived in a town called Blue Gales. No one in the gang had ever heard of the place, much less forseen the secrets it held. That is until Irvine gave Selphie a small journal and a blue-eyed baby boy moved in with his father.

Red Strokes - Begins one year and 9 days after the end of the game, on June 10th. Quite possibly one of the most neglected characters of the game finally makes his stand... unintentionally of course. Nida is a far more intelligent and capable individual than anyone realizes. With Selphie's help he may finally get recognition, with Quistis' help, he may be saved from himself.

Unsilenced - Begins on October 28th, 1 year, 4 months and 27 days after the defeat of Ultimecia. Zell has long since healed from the injuries he suffered in Darkened Ice and he and Fujin have grown very close in a relationship together. He's used to dealing with Irvine's teasing, Fujin's mood swings and Seifer's over-protectiveness, but he wasn't prepared for the consequences that a prison break on the other side of the world would cause. With a new enemy, Zell finds himself having to confront and worry about a past he doesn't even remember having.

Iris of Thorns - Begins 3 years 1 month and 8 days after the end of the game on July 8th. Few people know what goes on in Seifer's private life. He likes his privacy and keeps it well guarded and hidden from nearly everyone. On the night President Loire and President Caraway are nearly assassinated, Ellone becomes seriously ill and calls him for help. Squall is at the hospital waiting to see how his father's doing when he gets the news that Ellone's also there. Everything Seifer's hidden is suddenly thrust out in the open.
