And yet again I'm updating this wondering to myself, "Didn't we just leave this party?" Yes, I'm still alive. I've been more of a reader over the past two years than a writer and I have done a small bit of beta-reading as well. I think I am more of a reader at heart than a writer, but I am bound and determined to finish my story, and what's more I think I have a couple more stories I'd like to write.
Life update: I'm done with college. 'Nuff said. I'm married--not enough CAN be said about this, but I'll leave at this: she is a very lovely young woman who is my perfect match forever in every way; we are two different people, but when we're together it can't get any better. Marriages have started out better though--we had a major surgery (my knee) six months in, then eight months in she left for Army Officer training and we have not really lived together since. I stayed with her for a few weeks in January before she finished her training and I started mine in February (yeah, the Army definitely didn't help us out on that one). There's really not a whole lot to do at Army training when you're not actually training (which is about 33 of the time) so I've had a lot of time to think about my story and some future stories as well. So now with college out of the way and some downtime during training maybe I'll be able to finish these things and really get cracking on some fun writing. Please don't expect regular updates because the Army works a lot like a bungee cord or a rubber band--a whole lot of time gets spent stretching it out and it's not very exciting, but when you let it go there's no telling how far it'll fly. Thanks for sticking with me (any of you that have--I don't blame you, really).
I've had some experiences that may manifest themselves in my writing a bit, especially some interaction with a couple of fellow authors. Basically, if my stories suddenly seem very PG rated language wise don't be surprised--I haven't used that language in my daily speech for a long time, so I see no reason to use it in my written expression either. It may sound kind of cheesy for Inuyasha to start saying 'dangit' and 'crap' instead of his usual explitives, but maybe I'll use a plot device to make that happen.
So here's what's on the table:
The Dogs of War (Inuyasha): I may have screwed up a little bit here and gotten myself somewhat turned around, but I think I can fix it, so just bear with me. I've said it before, I know exactly where this is going so all I need to do is get it down in some kind of form you can enjoy, as having you all read my thoughts apparently isn't working. Stand by for updates.
Command Decision (Teen Titans): Still not really sure on this one, but I think I'm going to let it stand. I've become a great fan of Robin and Raven so expect more stories for them coming up. I've actually started one already, but I probably won't get back to it for a while. It's called...
The More Things Change (Teen Titans): Basically this is a future!fic that takes place in a bastardized DC universe of my own choosing, including parts of Knightfall, Teen Titans comic, Teen Titans show, Batman the Animated Series...the list goes on. Basically if I liked it, it might make an appearance in this story (usually only as a side reference, all plot will be totally independent of established DC Universes).
Working Title: Growth (Naruto):Yes, I have decided to enter the Naruto fandom, and, from what I can tell, the largest fandom on ff.net...somebody save me. This will be a plot insertion story that occurs somewhere during the timeskip and explores possible connections between Naruto and the Hyuuga clan that extend beyond his defeat of Neji in the Chuunin exams and Hinata's supposed infatuation with him. More on this later.
The Kougu Identity (Naruto): I hate it when people do this, but this one came to me so clearly that I couldn't help but write the plot summary in my little 'Plot Bunnies' file on my desktop. Basically an adaptation of the Bourne series to the Naruto Universe. Not a total rip-off, I assure you, but there will definitely be recognizable parallels between the two, so I'm just going to call it what it is. Bring your flashlights people, this one's going to be dark for a while in the beginning. I wrote the first chapter and had to stop myself from going overboard on the darkness of the tone. It'll be ugly for a while...
Don't Give Up (Naruto): Inspired by a Peter Gabriel song of the same name, this one's going to be mostly tragic with a bit of hope at the end--I expect this to be a one-shot, maybe slightly longer if it gets away from me.
That's all he wrote (so to speak). Look for updates--I know I will.
