Author has written 2 stories for Lord of the Rings, and Harry Potter. If anybody was interested in my bio, which I know they are not, I'd say... So much for sick taste and over-all weirdness. It goes almost without saying that I love and admire the recent LotR-movie. Apart from that: every fandom that offers some dark aspects, meaning a number of vampire movies / TV Shows, Harry Potter (as long as there is enough Severus Snape in it), some batman, some X-men, you get the drift. PotO too, though IMNSHO the recent movie has done for the fandom what the LotR movie did for the Tolkien fandom. Only a lot worse. I'm a perfectionist, which makes me godawfully slow with updating. I've considered just taking down my stories to spare readers, but they are so old that they're near impossible to find anyway. (Or so I tell myself.) When I have some spare time (or, more truthfully, when I'm busy procrastinating) I tend to look at the stories of writers who reviewed me and review theirs, because it seems common courtesy: If you take the time to tell me what you think of my concoction, then I should reciprocate. Doesn't mean I do rave swaps, though. Ye be warned. As for that: If you're here because I just wrote a two-page review, splitting hairs about spelling and characterisation and "is this likely" and "is that over the top" - I only bother to do that when I really like a story, and I hope I wasn't too busy splitting hairs to point out what I liked about your's. If you're still fuming: Go ahead, write me a few flames. What is fanfiction without flames and Mary Sues, after all? Ah yes, the poor and much maligned species of Mary Sues. Actually, I find them a lot more annoying in movies (Elizabeth in PotC, that insufferable Dark Angel girlie, ...) than in fanfiction. In ff the idea that perfect = interesting isn't half as bad as the perfect = no spell-check / beta-reading neccessary. Well-written, interesting Mary Sue story? Gimme. On writing... Like a lot of people here I'm still new to writing and therefore grateful for tips (what to do with plot holes? Those usually stop my writing dead. Where to find a _really_ good synonym finder? How do I develop a character? ) and constructive criticism. I'll try to list some links I find helpful here in the vain assumption that anybody cares, and I'll be tremendously grateful to anybody who mails me further links that were helpful for them. http://www.blackonwhite.on.ca/prefix.html black on white offers a number adresses writers in general, not fanfiction, but offers some neat little tips as to how to get some suspense into a plot, get some interesting character together, or find a good theme to write about. Fat plus: the whole site is written in a very entertaining and light way which makes it fun just to browse through it. A thousand thanks to those who give feedback - if you write yourself, you know how much it means and if you don't it's beyond my power with words to express it. | |||||
