Salutare and good evening!
I'm Melody, I am nineteen, and junior in college. I'm double-majoring with Psychology (B.S.) and English (B.A.), so I still have two years left for my undergrad education, and I hope to go on to grad school in a few years. My life is insanely busy, but I wouldn't trade it for the world. I'm taking as many credit hours as I can fit into my schedule, which varies between 13 and 19 (although right now I have 28-29. dual enrollment ftl?). This means I have no social life. Unfortunately, I have been mildly eaten by the original fiction bunnies, and I now have 12-20 page research papers due every few weeks, so I'm not able to devote much time to fanfiction. I am continuing to work on my Star Wars pieces though, so fear not! They shall be completed, no matter how long it takes me.
Things I Worship:
Fanfiction -Harry Potter (exclusively)
Music - Celtic Thunder, Jack Savoretti, Dido, Enya, Anberlin, The Corrs, Plumb, etc.
Books - Jennifer Fallon, Brandon Sanderson, Megan Whalen Turner, Lawrence Watt-Evans, Maggie Furey, etc... oddly enough, I don't like JK Rowling.
At this point, I normally would put down a list of my ships from each of my prefered fandom, but I won't. To be honest, it took a lot of room, and I really could sum it up by saying that Hermione is the only female character in Harry Potter I can stand, and I'll ship her with any guy exept for Albus, Aurthur or Ron. Although if I think about it, Severus Snape and Percy Weasley are probably my favorite characters, even though there isn't half enough fanfiction about them available to us.
Sevritus stories are probably the most entertaining "genre" of Harry Potter fics - but I don't understand why they almost always end up slashing Harry. I don't like slash. I'm not homophobic, but reading is escapism. When I slip into fantasy worlds, I like it when the girl ends up with the lead male - just like how I wish it would happen to me. So please, don't lecture me on how slash is good or some such nonsense, because that isn't the reason behind my dislike of slash.
Also: Ginny. I can sympathize with her, I know how she feels. I also, for the same reason, HATE it when she ends up with Draco and/or Harry. I will NOT read anything that has Ginny with either of them, unless they plan to dump her for someone else, or if they are an insanely minor pairing. If you want to know the reasons for Ginny Hatred, email me, and I'd love to explain them to you.
Oh, and just for the record, Tom Riddle is waaaay hot. There really should be more Tom/Hermione time turner and Veela!Draco/Hermione fics out there. And Rowling ruined sweet Blaise. Oh well, fannon is still around. Blaise=God.
Now then, on my favorite stories list are a ton of stories. Several of the stories are clique but they're still really good. The majority of them are Hermione/Slytherin HP fics but there are some others scattered through out. I highly recommend them all! The main characteristics I look for in a good fanfic are grammar, plausibility, formatting, and flow of details. The ones that are amazing beyond human comprehension end up in my C2 archive: Shadowlands.
I hope haven't bored you, and I do hope you enjoy the tales of magic that I have collected...
