Author has written 2 stories for Harry Potter, and Sky High. I am a 24-year-old high school teacher (not of English, which is why I can get away with writing so informally :), living in my itty-bitty hometown in Alaska where there is little to do in terms of entertainment and I am left to entertain myself. Turns out I'm rather good at it; helps that I have an obsessive personality, so when I discovered TV on DVD... Anyway, my other passions include reading, writing, and the internet, all of which help fill my out-of-school hours. Dude! It's almost summer. I can't wait. I have been waiting for this since OCTOBER!!! (Which, in all truth, has nothing to do with my students, and all to do with my work environment. LOVE my students - they crack me up everyday.) But in a few short weeks, this year will be over. Work nine months a year and take three months off? I LOVE this gig! My pen name comes from that obsessive side of my personality - three of my obsessions (there are many more). My favorite color is silver - something about liquid metal. I love the way it looks (maybe it's that Wolverine adamantium thing...). I love fantasy things - something about living where I do, maybe, that makes the idea of escaping into a completely different world so appealing. Dragons are a huge part of that - beautiful, majestic, graceful, dangerous. What can I say about fire? When it's fifty degrees below zero, there is nothing more appealing :) It's a beautiful thing in all its destructiveness. I have no shame in admitting that I am an obsessive fangirl. When I find a fandom that I like, I run with it. This includes Harry Potter, Sky High, Veronica Mars (best show on TV), Angel, Firefly, X-Men (I LOVED the first two movies, but do NOT get me started on how much I hated the third movie and it's one-dimensional characters and how they destroyed Wolverine's and Rogue's characters and how they passed over all emotional content in order to fill it with action scenes and keep it under 2 hours), Prison Break, Supernatural, Charmed, Smallville, and Samurai Champloo (reminds me of the early days of Angel Investigations for some odd reason). For some of those fandoms, it's the characters and the possibilities that draw me in. Side characters and all the things that get left unsaid about them are what tends to hook me. I love fandoms with a lot of characters because it's rare that the writers of the book/movie/show will ever be able to go into full detail for most of them. Which means that my imagination is fed for life :) Fandom characters that I absolutely adore: Chloe Sullivan, Veronica Mars, Dean Winchester, Rogue, River Tam, Warren Peace, Piper Halliwell, Ginny Weasley, Kelsi Nielson, Logan Echolls, Betty Suarez, Chris Halliwell, Hannah Rogers, and Meg Cabot's Heather Wells. In case you couldn't tell from some of those characters listed, one of my favorite types of character is the girl-best-friend or overlooked-girl-next-door. Psych that one, Freud. Fandom ships that I read and/or write: Draco/Ginny, Rogue/Logan, Angel/Cordy, Illyria/Spike, Chloe/Clark, Veronica/Logan, and River/Jayne. Looking at that list, for the most part, they're couples that would never get together in canon, which means it is up to me and my imagination to bring them together! Or, you know, just read how other fans get them together in fanfic or fanvids. ~CarleeAK I also have a small quote obsession (totally stole Logan Echoll's inspirational greeting for my answering machine), especially movies and TV shows, but also books and other material too. I'll be updating this section everyonce in awhile. "Elphaba, where I'm from, we believe all sorts of things that aren't true. We call it history." ~ The Wizard in Wicked the Musical "Did you vouch for me? You were bragging on me. You have a dad-crush on me!" ~ Shawn on Psych "What is wrong with you...specific to this moment?" ~ Kyra on Reba "My father may try and rule the world, but yours will inherit the earth." ~ Lex on Smallville "Well, I learned a valuable lesson. Always take down your Christmas decorations after New Years, or you might get fileted by hooker from God." ~ Dean on Supernatural "A person isn't who they are during the last conversation you had with them. They're who they've been through out your whole relationship." ~ Rilke, German poet, quoted by Lex on Smallville "We can't take credit for our talents. It's how we use them that counts." ~ Madeleine L'Engle "Always be a first-rate version of yourself, instead of a second-rate version of someone else." ~ Judy Garland Angel "Your opion of me weighs less than sunlight." ~ Illyria on Angel "If nothing we do matters, then all that matters is what we do. 'Cause that's all there is. What we do. Now. Today." ~ Angel on Angel The Librarian: Quest for the Spear "She may have been in cahoots with Wilde all along. Cahoots. I've been cahooted." ~ Flynn on The Librarian "The fate of the world is in my hands? That is just so...sad." ~ Flynn on The Librarian Samurai Champloo | |||||||
