Author has written 4 stories for Harry Potter. Current and Future projects: The Other Side of Hell - I hope to have this back up on ff.net sometime in the near future. Meanwhile, it's on my yahoo group. Stained Future- On hiatus. I'm still keen on writing this at some point but it just doesn't seem like the right time at the moment. What Lies Beneath - COMPLETE! Yes, it's H/Tracey. There has been a lot of talk about a sequel. I'm not going to say never, but at the moment, I don't have any plans for a sequel. My thoughts on the fic itself: in retrospect, I think it's actually a very dark story, not in the usual Dark!Harry sense where there's lots of blood and sex, but the fact that Harry's completely losing himself. For much of the story, he's stuck in a vicious cycle and there are very few moments where he is genuinely happy. As a result, the usual filler found in many fics is absent, making some parts of the story feel 'rushed'. I don't feel it's rushed, but instead, there is the main plot of Harry vs Voldemort with the 'Knights of Walpurgis' sub-plot flitting in and out of the main plot. I initially considered adding a sup-plot for Blaise Zabini and placing more emphasis on Dean Thomas but in the end, my decision was that there would be no focus on any character other than Harry because I thought it would undermine his peripeteia. As for the epilogue, I felt that a detailed epilogue mapping out exactly what happened to everyone and if/how Harry conquered the Ministry would not work; the former because I wanted to keep the focus on Harry right until the very end and the latter because of the epilogue would probably equal the length of the rest of the story if I properly mapped out the fall of the Ministry. Ruin: Sometime in March, I became unhappy with the progress of ‘Through the Grapevine’ - in particular, the chapters that had already been written. I felt I made some poor decisions regarding the story, including an overly-exhaustive opening sequence, a bloated cast of characters and a loose, meandering plot. As a result, I spent much of the past month revising the plot and rewriting the entire story. The first instalment is now complete, and in two days, I will begin replacing the existing chapters with entirely new ones. The story name will also change to ‘Ruin’, since the current title no longer fits. If you liked the original only because of the pairing, then I apologise, because that is one of the components that I wrote out. If not, then I’m confident you will enjoy the new version more than the old one. I will be posting a new chapter every few days. Future Projects: I may be writing a relatively dark post-DH fic of similar length to 'What Lies Beneath' with a friend of mine in the near future. Remember, nothing is set in stone and I definitely can't promise the same update rate that I managed in the second half of 'What Lies Beneath' (yes, that means no more double and triple updates, heh). (June 2008) For the time being, OSoH can be found here: Yahoo Group New website for HP writers! There is a brand new website for Harry Potter fanfiction that myself and a few friends of mine have developed. Its focus is primarily on writing, but there's plenty of fun for readers, too, including story recommendations, interviews with fanfic authors, articles on magical theory and articles on the various aspects of writing. We've put a lot of time and effort into it and we would really appreciate it if you dropped by and had a look at the articles posted there - they are genuinely very good reads. Check it out! Review replies: I've been very lazy about this lately and I apologise. What I'll do is respond to valid questions and reviews that look like they've taken a long time to write. | |||||||||||
