I'm a married and somewhat ancient lady telecom/electrical engineer who likes Harry Potter and motorcycle riding (Honda VLX600) as hobbies. I reside in the USA, but I recently spent 7 months living in India (Bombay and Hyderabad). I have spent quite a bit of time in other countries as part of my job(s). I've been to Japan (Kawasaki and Yokohama), Denmark (Copenhagen and Struer), Sweden (Stockholm and Goteborg), England (Brighton/East Sussex), Austraila (Melbourne, Ballarat), Mexico (for a day),and Canada (lots of places).
As a reader/reviewer, I will provide detailed critique for stories I find compelling, I generally won't read a story unless there is at least 4 chapters. The 4 chapter threshold usually means the author won't drop the story. I do read and review advertised "one shots, shorts, or ficlets". I keep reading style guides to make myself a better critic.
I have decided, with lots of encouragement and prodding, to begin to write my own fanfic. I am starting out small using the 100 word challenge format. Lately I am overwhelmed with the quantity of hits and reviews on my first attempts at plot driven fics. Thank you! I have started 3 types of plot fic in serial drabble format. One is a horror/mystery, one is drama/spiritual, and one is a romance. The romance seems to be the biggest crowd pleaser.
It's seems HBP has AU'ed thousands of HP fanfics, and mine are not immune. I will continue my fics. I may be able to work around HBP with my horror/mystery story "Things We Cannot Do", but "She Waits" and "Poised on the Cusp of a Dream" is going to be hopelessly AU due to the insertion of certain characters already in the story. I will be taking "Poised" out of drabble format, since I am not getting competive points for writing it in 100 word format. It will be my first attempt at writing longer chapters.
I had a bout of insanity and signed up for the SS_HG Exchange, and as a result I wrote my very first long fic "The High Cost of Casual Wishes". The story was developed in concept and was never in drabble format. It was very diffiuclt to write.
I am into Dumbledore - Snape non-slash hurt/comfort fics as well as romances with SS/HG, SS/MM, LM/HG pairings. I do read a bit of "general fic" on top of that. I love the Weasley twins, Crookshanks, Luna, Moody, Peeves, and Filch. My favorite villians are Lucius Malfoy and Delores Umbridge.
I have a C2 community dedicated to tragic SS/HG romance where one of the beloved dies, so get your kleenex ready if you visit! Check out my favorite stories and favorite authors list, you won't be dissapointed. I hang out at WIKTT and other Snape sites.
Remember it is always polite and exceedingly kind to read and review!

Fanart1: See the house that Hermione loves at http://charmingcottage.livejournal.com/. Many thanks to perselus and seaislewitch for giving me permission to link this art and their story associated with it.
Fanart2: The lovely Usagistu/Melanie has kindly granted permission to link art to the fic "The High Cost of Casual Wishes". Ironic that she did this art not knowing this fic was her gift in the SS_HG Exchange!
