A Critic who lives soley to critique cannot see the world through the eyes of an artist's - outside the box.
Criticize with the intention to guide not to hurt; make better authors not bitter youths.
Not everyone is born with talent; some grows with time, experience, and practice. Some are not professionals, but have touched the hearts of thousands. Some are kids having fun but through the years might become popular writers. Mind this when next you read what you concieve as "bad" literature - you're looking at the beginning of a journey.
If it brings others joy, and for even a moment makes them smile and wish for more before returning to the compexities in their lives, what is TRULY wrong with it?
Unless we're reading some modern misconception on the ancient world by so called "realist" modern historians (whores who get paid to screw history in the rear). In this case, I'm the first to say "ATTACK!"
Obssessions: Death Note, Prydain Chronicals, Yaoi/Slash, ancient warfare, history, ancient occult societies, Arya culture, the Vedas. Planet Earth and the Human Race could be said to be my greatest obsessions - I can't get enough of them ;p
Hobbies: (need I say) Read and write; videogames; collecting blades, swords, ancient weapons, etc.; gym; soccer; chess; draw; paint; scare people; dress in costumes and make the kids laugh.
Favourite books: The Art of Warfare, by Sun-Tzu translated by Roger T. Ames (I have read several english translations and this one is the BEST. Ames really understands the mind of a warrior and philosopher in ancient China, not like some other western idiots);
The Enchanted Forest Chronicals, by Patricia C. Wrede;
The Prydain Chronicles, by Lloyd Alexander;
The Inheritance Trilogy, by Christopher Paolini;
The 33 Strategies of War, by Robert Greene (I haven't got hold of The 48 Laws of Power, but I'm sure when I do, it's going into the list. Our minds are cut of the same cloth);
The Origins of War: From the Stone Age to Alexander the Great, by Arther Ferril;
The Count of Monte Cristo, by Alexandre Dumas;
Great Expectations, by Charles Dickens;
Paragon Lost, and Impossible Odds, by Dave Duncan (I've yet to read the rest of the series. There is some implied Slash in them YAY!);
Fortunate Son, Walter Mosley;
Lords of Battle: The World of the Celtic Warrior, by Stephen Allen;
The Sacred Tradition in Ancient Egypt, by Rosemary Clark;
Queer as Folk: Every Nine Seconds, by Joseph Brockton (...hot);
Only the Ring Finger Knows, by Satoru Kannagi (all three, still waiting for the fourth);
Poems of Ralph Waldo Emerson, selected by J. Donald Adams;
Essays, by Ralph Waldo Emerson;
Gods and Men: Myths and Legends from the World's Religions;
Hamlet, by Shakespeare;
Gravitation the Novel and Gravitation: Voice of Temptation, by the great Maki Murakami;
The Rubaiyat, by Omar Khayyam, (READ HIM!!)...well these are my favorites for now.
Current reads: Medieval Epics and Sagas, compiled by Borders Leatherbound Classics;
Metamorphoses, by the great Ovid;
and Mein Kamph, by Adolph Hitler (No one's mind escapes me, not even a dictator's - but it so much easier when they have it published.)
Yaoi manga; this is for those yaoi lovers who have not read these, they are recommended: Gravitation and Gravitation EX, by the lovely Maki Murakami (when is G EX volume 2 coming out DAMNIT!);
Junjo Romantica, by Shungiku Nakamura (one of the funniest yaoi stories out there);
June Pride, by Shinobu Gotah and Kazumi Ohya;
Our Everlasting, and Loveholic, by Toko Kawai (Indeed you get addicted to this, release volume 2 damnit!!);
Ill Gato Sul G, by Tooko Miyagi (one of the best, sadly the 3rd volume is taking long);
La Esperanza, by Chigusa Kawai (lovely, no sex and only a few kisses, but beautiful story);
Little Butterfly, by Hinako Takanaga (Kawaii!!);
Alcohol, Shirt and Kiss, by Yuko Kuwabara (another must read);
The Art of Loving, by Eiki Eiki (I LOVE that penname. But when's the heck's the 2nd coming out?);
L'Etoile Solitaire, by Yuno Ogami;
Ka-Shin-Fu, by Makoto Tateno;
Invisible Love, by Rie Honjyo;
Invisible Boy, Hotaru Odagiri (beautiful);
Love Recipe, by Kirico Higashizato (BY GOD, this is a MUST read! funny, sexy, sweet);
Delivery Cupid, by CJ Michalski (Hah, God in here is so senile and funny...no wonder the world's screwed LOL);
Skyscrapers of OZ, by Yoshino Somei and Row Takakura (where can I get a job like that? O.o);
Kizuna, by Kazuma Kodaka;
Legal Drug, by CLAMP (how could you biatches give up on it!!). I read many more but these are the top of the list...for now.
Non-slash manga recommended: Angel Sanctuary, by Kaori Yuki (I want to read her other stuff too);
Death Note, by Tsugumi Ohba and Takeshi Obata (Pure Genius)
Juvenile Orion, by Sakurako Gokurakuin;
Diabolo, by Kei Kusunoki and Kaoru Ohashi (I'm mad at the ending...but it was still good);
Alichino, by Kouyu Shukei (release Vol. 4 already!!);
Princess Princess, by Mikiyo Tsuda.
Fandoms: Lloyd Alexander; Enchanted Forest; C.S Lewis; Gakuen Heaven; La Esperanza; Gravitation; Legal Drug; Death Note; Harry Potter; Eragon; Final Fantasy 7, 8, 12; Loveless; Angel Sanctuary; Bible; Greek Mythology...for now
Favourite Pairings: Prydain Chronicals: Gwydion/Taran, Rhun/Taran, Ellidyr/Taran, Taran/Eilonwy (one of the few hetero couples I enjoy reading about)
Angel Sanctuary: Lucifer(Kira)/Setsuna, Lucifer/Alexiel (another hetero couple, these two just rock, and Alexiel is one badass chick)
Death Note: L/Light, Beyond Birthday/Light
Harry Potter: Harry/Draco
Eragon: Murtagh/Eragon (only incest couple I'm cool with, I guess because they grew to manhood without knowing they were brothers.)
Final Fantasy 7: Reno/Rufus, Tseng/Rufus, Sephiroth/Rufus
Bible: God/Lucifer, Uriel/Lucifer (I think of them as fictional characters, so save your Christian glares for the real evil in the world.)
More oft than not I read M rated fics, exeptional T's. And so are my own works. Usually I read fanfiction based off anime, manga, video games, and books.
