Writing fanfiction is my guilty pleasure. I love it but I almost never let anyone I know read or write it. I've been in this habit since 1998 and I've published before, but those stories have since been phased out with the changing regulations and my own personal neglect. WARNING: If you like what I write, I'll need constant nagging to upload chapters more frequently than every few months. I tend to get lazy with my writing and hang it up on a shelf when I really should be finishing the piece. So nag me if you like one of my stories!
Some more information about me:
I'm an elementary school teacher, and yes I love to teach writing. A little twist though is that I LOVE to teach persuasive writing. This is for a couple of reasons. First of all I like to know what my students think about various topics so I can get to know their minds better, and second of all because persuasive writing is easy to teach and easy to do. It's the most structured of writing forms and less intimidating when broken down. As much as I personally love creative writing, it is the most difficult to teach because it is so personal in nature. It is virtually impossible to teach someone how to write from their imagination. About as far as you can get is to say "Imagine something, then write it down exactly as you imagine it." But still, I do try to pry this difficult form of communication out of the little ones for their own good.
I have a pet cat who acts like a dog.
I was raised in a Star Wars and Star Trek household and know way more than someone my age should know about these two epics.
I don't look like a SciFi geek, but I'm proud to say that I am one.
I love to research the history of the Star Wars universe. I like knowing how their galaxy got the way it was and making the "human connection."
My husband thinks I'm a geek (a sexy one, but still a geek) and he's the complete opposite of me. He's totally into sports (football especially) and being manly. Makes great BBQ though!

9-16-07 Update
Ok, so I just published by second fanfic. It's a Willy Wonka story and I actually finished it in one day. The first three chapters were written about a month ago and I resolved to finish it in less than a week...so I finished it in a day. Marathon writing is so not fun. But it got me thinking about my writing styles and inspiration so I thought I would share them with you.
Next Steps?
I don't know what my next story will be. I've contemplated a Harry Potter fic focusing on Snape, but it has a similar premise as "Broken" and "Bittersweet" with a whole lost love thing (yeah, I know. Snape already has a lost love, so maybe more of a lost relationship). I like to write romance stories because they are easy for me. I'm romantic so a story of love and heartache comes easily to me. Adventure and mystery take far too much thought for me! Those would never be finished! In fact, I think I had an X-Files story on here a while back featuring the Lone Gunmen and it had some sort of mystery plot (the original character was a young girl, so I know there was no romance). Anyway, it sat with one chapter for YEARS and maybe ten reviews for me to write more. Any suggestions of stories I should try to write are greatly appreciated!
