Author has written 10 stories for Highlander, Stargate: SG-1, and Sanctuary.

My activities on here may slow down a bit (ha ha like they could anymore?). Or they may increase. I've gotten involved w/a local writer's group and an indie comic publisher is looking at using one of my short stories in an anthology (no money for me but exposure wee!), so I may be inspired to finish what I've got and/or vanish for a bit :/. If you don't like waiting feel free to leave a review on whatever you'd like to see some action on or send me a message :D Thanks again for reading :D

I was perusing some Supernatural fanfiction the other day and I had a thought. First off, I'm half English so I know we are two countries divided by a common language. I also have in-laws who do not speak English naturally. This is not a bash, honestly it isn't, anyone who can master their native language and then go on to conquer English is in my eyes a genius. particularly written English which is even more insane than spoken. That said.

FOR THE LOVE OF GOD DO NOT HAVE THE WINCHESTERS EVER EVER EVER SAY MUM.

I'm sorry but for a variety of reasons any American referring to his/her mother as Mum is going to get at best a funny look. At worst he/she will receive severe ridicule, an invitation to go 'back to Canada' or some similar nation, or even a severe beating. The Winchesters are bad ass, they make the ghostbusters look wimpy, they could eat Paranormal State and The Ghost Hunters for breakfast, they laugh in the face of John Edwards and then kick him in the crotch and take his wallet.

Also they're a lil rough around the edges it is absolutely okay to have them use a few contractions in speech. They are not robots, they are not on Star Trek, they will not be getting flunked out of English 101 any time soon.

That is all.

First off Highlander the Source was a travesty and as far I'm concerned never happened. Now then -

I'm in my twenties born and raised in the pacific northwest, ex-military.

My favorite fanfics usually have Methos in 'em and I've generally focused on Highlander although I really enjoy Firefly, Stargate SG-1 and Atlantis is growing on me, Angel, and Buffy and am just getting into Farscape. I spent a few years overseas so my pop culture experience during the last five years is somewhat sketchy. I am a chick and yes the angel of fear, no I'm kidding of course. For those of you who may have missed that reference put Ireul into any search engine. Or just enter it at Wikipedia, no I do not like Evangelion. I am also a huge comic book fan, nothing mainstream though. I like a couple of titles from dynamite as well as anything by steve niles.

Please feel free to annihilate my feelings during a critique or comment. If I never wanted criticism I wouldn't post ;). Seriously criticism, sarcasm, withering derision, all are welcome :D

Story Status:

Early Days: Methos with the Horsemen. A stand alone, finished. May be subject to radical revision

The Man in White: A short, well for me short, similar to Early Days, how Kronos and Methos meet. Complete.

Shattered: The truth behind the game. My first ever fanfic. I seriously doubt this will be tweaked at any point, I obsessed over it for about a year and a half before, during and after initially posting it on ff.net, finished.

Shattered 2: Genocide Avenged: Okay I tweaked and polished and am now reasonably satisfied, enjoy and please let me know what you think :D. Finished.

Hostile: My First Crossover, Highlander meets SG-1 introducing my original character Max Holloway. Max and Methos get into trouble and out again, well mostly. Complete. - recently moved from Highlander to SG-1 categorization dealie whopper. Finished.

Hostile 2: Enter the Nephilim: The story of Simon, last of the Nephilim, resident of Seacouver and friend of Max, a sequel to Hostile. Complete. May be subject to radical revision

Hostile 3: Leave Me Alone: Okay, timeline, Hostile 2: Enter the Nephilim takes place roughly ten years after the end of Hostile. Hostile 3: Leave Me Alone takes place immediately following the events of Hostile. I know, I apologize for being that way. So, Hostile 3: Leave Me Alone, the Feral children of Max's nightmares return and Jack gets the worst of it. WIP mini update on 14 may

The Savage Lonely: Deleted

Earthside: Features Max, Methos, Mac and a host of OCs in a future society. This is a big leap for me so please be patient, that said feel free to bombard me with questions, suggestions, criticism (of any kind my skin is concrete I swear), observations, complaints, and advice, or even just to say howdy would be good :D. I hope to have this finished soon. But, it is a WIP and is subject to the whims of my damaged psyche and life events. WIP

And Now Just for Fun! Ireul's take on the Canon and Franchise that is Highlander! Originally written when bored and trapped! Posted on IMDB.com!

First off the term 'canon' meaning the core continuity of a series is a bit of a joke applied to the Highlander franchise, any fan will or SHOULD freely admit this. In fact the only stories in the franchise that I can think of that don't actually contradict earlier established plot points would be Highlander: The Raven and Highlander: the Series, but I couldn't sit through all of the Raven so I couldn't tell you (although I know they had valentine pelka in the raven as a bad guy which is weird because he also played Kronos in the main series.. whatever).

So confusion is very understandable.

The first highlander movie, Highlander (1986): was set in contemporary times i.e. 1986 (although I believe one of the characters explicitly states that it's 1985), and depicted a world where there were only three immortals remaining and it was the end of the Gathering. The Kurgan kills the other immortal and comes for Connor, Connor wins, Connor gets the prize. YAY! End of movie, end of story.

Highlander 2: The Quickening (1991): This movie is hailed as a hideous sequel. Myself I like it. But it does represent the beginning of the end of any canon. Considering that the first film pretty much screwed the pooch as far as any simple sequels went it;s kind of a moot point. In this movie Ramirez and Connor are revealed to have been exiled to Earth from their home planet (yes I said planet immortals are aliens, I always thought this was a little too Superman for my tastes but I digress). Ages later Connor is a weak old man (yes old wrinkles and all) who engineered a shield to protect the earth from the failed ozone layer and saved all humanity Huzzah! Only the the bad guy responsible for exiling Connor and Ramirez fears Connor will attempt to return to Zeist and sends his minions to stop him. They end up getting beheaded and their Quickening energies return Connor to his youthful goodness. Connor triumphs in the end and all is well huzzah!

Highlander: The Series (1992): The first episode introduces Duncan as Connor's kinsman/fellow clansman. The show revolves around Duncan and his cadre of fellow immortals and their adventures in Seacouver (bwahahah punage!- The show was filmed in Vancouver but supposedly set in Wa. State Seattle + Vancouver = Seacouver and Paris).

Highlander 3: The Sorcerer (1994): In spite of being released while the Series was alive and well this train wreck happily has, as far as I remember, nothing to do with the series and vice versa, so yay for that. Connor faces an old enemy who is apparently magical and can turn invisible... yes I know. Once again Connor wins, Huzzah!

Highlander the Animated Series(1994): This is weird. Apparently at some point in the past all immortals took a vow of secrecy and laid down their swords so they could help humanity, and yet, it's a post apocalyptic society (shocking! in a highlander movie?? Never!- also this just occurred to me, if the immortals laid down their swords to help humanity why is the story post-apocalyptic? Tradition?) young Quentin Dundee soon learns that he is actually Quentin Macleod the Highlander (At this point I'm not sure what Highlander is meant to entail, is it someone who literally lived in the highlands of Scotland or a synonym for an immortal? Whatever) and destined to save the world from the evil immortal Kortan who did not put down his sword but rather used it to pwn the world. This isn't as bad as the hideosity that was the 'stargate' animated show (I seriously doubt anything could be as bad as that) which was not condoned or endorsed or had anything at all really to do with stargate but it isn't very good. But then it's an animated series, whaddaya want?

Highlander the Adventure Begins (1994): A weird pseudo-movie cobbled together from a few episodes of the animated series.

Highlander: The Raven (1998): The ill-fated follow up to the smash hit series. The producers chose the character of Amanda to follow onto her own show. A choice which still mystifies me since she was only any good playing off of Methos or Macleod. Anyway it follows her adventures and introduces her protege Nick Wolfe. Couldn't sit through more than the first episode but it's not too bad considering some of the other schleck the franchise has puked out (the source...).

Highlander Endgame (2000): Once again pairs up the Macleod immortals, this time in the past and present. This movie tripped me out. It is revealed that Macleod married a pre-immortal named Kate. (In spite of the series firmly establishing that Duncan was cursed to never marry, canon what canon?) And then drumroll ... murdered her so they could live happily ever after in immortal land. Yeah that's not ENORMOUSLY out of character, whatever. This also introduces the evil Kell one of the more interesting Highlander villains although the Kurgan could've taken him. Kell has been tormenting Connor for centuries since Connor killed Kell's father figure,(seriously they need to check the water in that part of Scotland) a priest who burned Connor's mother at the stake. Kate hooks up with Kell violence ensues Duncan survives the movie, Connor does not. (Personally I thought it would've rocked much harder if they cut the Kate subplot out entirely).

The Methos Chronicles (2001): A sadly short lived internet only flash series featuring Peter Wingfield voicing Methos. I believe it was only 10-13 eps. The art wasn't fab but it was cool to see Methos again lol. Generally can be found by searching for the Methos Chronicles online.

Highlander: The Search for Vengeance(2007): The Highlander anime. Jim Byrnes (AKA Joe Dawson) does a couple voices. Very awesome anime. The hero is Colin Macleod who apparently lived in pre-Roman or just barely Roman Scotland. His wife is crucified by another immortal, Colin pursues him for a few thousand years. Great movie seriously wicked entertaining, there's exploding things, romance, exploding things, sword fights, exploding things, post apocalyptic goodness done well, exploding things... For the record Colin Macleod like Quentin hasn't shown up in any live action Highlander and probably doesn't exist in that part of the franchise universe, nor for that matter does Quentin (and there was much rejoicing).

Highlander Reunion(2008): Chronologically this should go after the source BUT story wise its definitely pre-The Source (which since I'm convinced The Source was a truly bad LSD trip that never happened, it doesn't matter either way). A short 45 minute mini-episode featuring Joe, Amanda, and Methos. There is sadly no sword battling goodness but there are some touching tableaus, and while they don't show any combat the aftermath is... red. Available from www.legendaryheroes.com and currently on sale >:)

Methos Rocks! (2008): NOT fond of the name... it's pretty cheesy. Anyway. Again it should probably be pre-The Source since presumably the world is still going on. It references events from Reunion (they were shot at the same time). This is interesting because it features an 'interview' with Methos. Very odd and fourth wall damaging but fun times for fan boys and girls alike. Also included on the three disc set are six episodes chosen by Peter Wingfield and featuring commentary by PW and David Abramowitz lead writer for Highlander and arguably the creator of Methos. Also available from legendary heroes and on sale.

Highlander: The Source(2007): Terrible ridiculously bad movie. Still I watched it. It's got Methos in it, whaddaya want? The story is beat down and tired. Once again it's a post-apocalyptic setting. Methos, Reggie, Duncan, Joe, and Duncan's old wife (IDEK) set out to find the source of immortality, sort of. It's weird disjointed, and contradictory but hey it's got our guys in it. The end doesn't make sense. Not Usual Suspects doesn't make sense but literally doesn't make sense. Although I did really like Methos at times in it :D is not addicted to Methos... well... maybe a little...

BOOKS! In no particular order, the series based novels are-

Highlander The Path
Highlander Shadow of Obssession
Highlander The Measure of a Man
Highlander White Silence
Highlander The Element of Fire
Highlander Scimitar
Highlander Scotland the Brave
Highlander Zealot
Highlander The Captive Soul

I have heard of a novelization of the movie but don't own/haven't seen it anywhere. The series novels are actually quite findable (NEW WORD!).

An Evening at Joe's
Short stories written by the cast and crew usually available on Ebay etc.

Highlander: The Complete Watcher's Guide By Maureen Russell. Lists episodes and synopsis, synapsi? Hurrr, a synopsis of each episode...

And I just ran across The Best of Highlander the Book By Maureen Russell IDK what that's about never heard of it before or seen it anywhere but online.

Dynamite Publishing's Highlander series:

The first arc issues #0-12 deal with events before and during the series, the second arc Highlander: The Way of the Sword takes place before the first film and a new series has been announced; Highlander Origin: The Kurgan which will show the early days of the Kurgan.

I like Dynamite but they like to do multi-covers of their comics to urge on sales. Still the stories are pretty good Brandon Jerwa and Michael Avon Oeming are the talents behind it (currently yeah never know w/dynamite).
