Hard to believe I've been on this site for nine years. On a similar note, it was a trip to Walt Disney World, nine years ago, that made me jump on the computer and start writing the second I got back. Well, I just got back from my second trip to WDW, and I guess it's made me reflect on the things I love about writing and fandom, what brought me to them in the first place.
TL;DR: sappy crap.
At any rate, I'm doing fairly well as a zoologist— in a management position, if you can believe it. Just moved out, really on my own, last year. All in all, it doesn't leave me a whole lot of time or energy for writing anything coherent. (Unless you want to read 50-80 page, uncapitalized, present-tense, wall'o'text outlines. I have plenty of those.)
I look back at Ophidia (my monster story, only because I never got around to any others) and see that I put all of that out over just two months... Holy crap. Where did I ever get the energy for that?? Mind you, it shows, and is in desperate need of a rewrite, but still. As for the stories that anyone reading this might be interested in: Rescue Team Adventures, Turning Back, and A Part of the Pack? Apologies, I know that those (at least those first two) did have some devoted fans, and it's largely unlikely that they will see completion any time soon. Of the three, RTA has the most material written, so if I do go back to finish any of them, that will probably be the one that gets it. As things stand, I will probably not work on any chaptered stories for the foreseeable future. I hate to abandon stories, but it's only fair to be honest with you guys. (That said... on the remote chance someone wants to do those stories themselves, let me know. I'd consider letting someone take a crack at them.)
Will I ever get back in the game? I suppose, now that I work a daily job instead of going to university, it's not a high chance. But I do still think about my stories often, even churn out bits of material for them on a semi-regular basis... So I won't count myself completely out.
