Movies, and Incredibles. Okay! So I've decided to devote my profile and all it's empty space-ness to making a character biography for my The Protector cast. About time too. Coming soon... Hogarth 'Garth' Hughes: In the first movie, Hogarth starts out as an energetic, good-hearted and often too-smart-for-his-own-good youngster who is always on the look out for adventure. When he meets an anmesic metal robot, he helps the foreign creature find his way in a heartening and difficult journey. With the help of a junkyard beatnik artist Dean, Hogarth and the Giant shape themselves based on choice rather then predestination. Fast-forward seven years. The child from the first movie has fallen into a crowd of Greaser-type bikers in the early '60s, though he has matured to mild-mannered and coolheaded with his studies and home life (which includes 6-year-old half sister Julianne) a teenaged Hogarth aka Garth still longs for something more. The Giant still wavers in and out of his days subconsciously as he ususally wholeheartedly goes about life and comes full circle when he meets an at first offensive girl name Taylor Evans and begins a journey straight out of one of his fantasies. Hogarth is for the most part a very good friend, he is resoureful, steadfast in his religion and faith and will always stick up for the underdogs. But as selfless as he can be when duty calls, Hogarth's attitude is usually cocky and he often takes situations far too lightly. While the Giant had good, significant outcomes for Hogarth as far as friends and family goes, his sacrifice in the first movie left a lasting impression on him. It is often sad and understandably debilitating for the young man to talk about it. Even as Hogarth fiercely refuses to talk about the missile incident, as his and the Giant's friendship begins to rekindle he gradually opens up. Hogarth has many friends along the way (who are of course seen as the bad guys; typically) and a bantering but compassionately romantic relationship with Taylor. Although sometimes abrasive with his friends when it comes to his well being, when Hogarth is being his true self either as a reassuring guide or clever inventor his nerdy, brilliant and adventuresome radiance shines. Birth name: Erika Roberta. Undercover name: Taylor Evans: Born to a single, insecurely promiscious mother, this petite teenage girl with a much larger personality always tries to be the opposite of what others think of her and usually accomplishs this. She is able to adapt readily to new circumstances and, when she is not disregarding everyone else's advice, has a reasonable voice in her friend's matters. While she comes off as rather pushy and stubbornly headstrong, Taylor always has an open heart and mind for the things she doesn't understand. She and the Giant relate on this level immensely and a close friendship grows between the two; with her problems being that she tries not to take on the life her mother and father led. Sadly, it is often ironic just how much she takes after her well-intentioned but socially disgraced maternal figure, Trisha. Despite being raised in the Countercutural age and turned on to the Bohemian lifestyle, Taylor's narrow perception and distrust of men and life in general greatly expand in a positive direction when the majority of her companions become male. Taylor is first shown in The Protector as a 'hippie' who helps children and keeps a suspicious eye on Hogarth, but as the story grows it highlights a whole other past altogether for her. She deftly keeps to herself what she knows and only explains things at significant (often inconvient) times. As with many girls from the sixites, Taylor is turned on to the free love era despite an aversion to giving away her virginity to just anyone. She tries to instead convey an image of beauty in the process of this hot topic, even when surrounded by negativity about her and her family's history. Passionate, bold and self-reliant, when Taylor Evans knows what she wants she go after it at all costs and will assume all responsbility. Ven: A young child in the future the Giant and Hogarth first encounter. He starts off as a smart-mouthed adolescent but after he befriends the pair and Hogarth provides a leader/brother role to him and his younger brother, he eventually matures into a calm and insightful young man. He is also unwittingly part of a poverty-stricken juggernaut voyage in a timetravel rebellion. Tress: At first quiet and insecure, the light-blonde-haired boy with soft grey eyes shares a deep connection with Hogarth as he inspires him with stories of the Iron Giant's heroics and with a faith in God. The young boy plays a pivotal part in the story in the struggle to hold onto innocence. | |||||||||||
