Spike and Buffy are two of the most complex characters I have ever known, and I read fanfic that delves into their characters.

The dialogue has to be witty...otherwise..it's not Buffy material =)

Best fanfiction I have ever read, is for some reason, AU. I usually like fanfics in the Whedon Universe itself, but this fanfic blew me away:

Bring Me To Life by Sweetie.

Go read it. I cry everytime I read it. The plot, the complexity, the characters, the dialogue...everything is just perfect. It's a story that every writer only wishes he/she could write.
