Books to enjoy:
Twilight by Stephanie Meyer. I just recently discovered these books, when I was looking up something on MTV and saw the hot guy who playing Edward, I felt that I had to learn more. Hence me going out and buying all three books. They're good. A nice fun read, although if I was Bella I would so choose Jacob. Like hello? How can you resist the hotness of a werewolf?
Lamb by Christopher Moore. Very funny, very touching, not for the super religous. Actually I recommend anything by Christopher Moore.
The Garden by Elsie V. Aidanoff. This woman shows an amazing view of what she thinks Eve was like when God created mankind. Very good stuff.
Lord of the Flies. Catcher in the Rye.Ignoring the fact that they top most high schools required reading lists, these books are some of the best. Deep characters, actual feelings.
Farenheight 51.Read this book. Then take a good look at our techno-thriving world.
Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck. Read this.If you can try to watch the movie as well. Very good portrayal of the novel.
A Tree Grows in Brooklyn. A must-have for any lover of reading.The main charcter is relatable, you grow as she grows. And each time I read it, I notice something new.
The Little Prince. For every grown-up who remembers what it was like to be a child.
The Fountainhead. By Ayn Rand. This woman's writing was so profound and powerful that there is whole school dedicated to her view on life, and the world around us. I don't recommend this for anyone looking for a quick read. Or an easy read.
Also anything by Isabel Allende, Francesca Lia Block, Laurie Notaro,Megan McCafferty, J.K Rowling. I'll post more as my library expands.(it's already over 200 books strong.)
My Top 5 Fanfic Authors: (oddly enough they're all female)
CalliopeMused: Almost anyone who reads any sort of Teen Titans fanfiction knows who this amazing and totally awesome girl is. If you have yet to read her stuff, then I command you to go read Dance of the Skeletons,immediately.Trust me you won't regret it. Call is one of those author's who can write about dirt and make you find it interesting. This girl's got talent and I look forward to the day when she takes her work off the internet and into a real published book.
Sueric: This woman writes epic, amazingly beautiful Inuyasha fics. Unfortuantely she doesn't update on FF.net any longer due to a few idiots who have just been really horrible to her.It's a shame really because she was actually my inspiration for putting my own work up here. Her stories are all canon Inuyasha pairing and all packed full of emotion, love, and just this amazing undertanding of how the heart works.She has this ability to take what's already there and make it hers. She makes you fall in love with every character all over again. Read Chronicles and Metamorphosis. Then go and read each and every one of her Purity stories; yes, read each and every one, all of which are based in the Inuyasha universe.Amazing.Inspiring.Moving. Freaking fantastic.I cannot say enough good things about this woman's work.Go read them. Trust me you will not regret it.
attica: Attica writes Harry Potter fanfiction. Her stories are Draco/Hermione centered and she is just...wow. She captures all that is Hermione and all that is Draco so perfectly, that you wonder if maybe she's not connected to J.K.Rowling somehow.I never liked the idea of D/H till I read her story Basketcase. I've now made a complete 360 and love the pairing. She's already got the sequel up and I'm loving every minute of it.
KTHunter: This woman writes BB/Rae fics from the comicverse. Her Raven is the Raven of the comics, she is young,she is powerful, she is human and yet not,she is a girl. Her stories are beautiful and just so well-written. Her Garfield is more man than boy, more than just the comic relief in the stories.Her stories are emotional and so truly inspired. Read her Twilight Child series and you'll see what I mean.
They-Call-Me-Orange: Orange is one of those writers I wish I could be. Her writing is always full of so much emotion and pathos. She writes these beautiful stories for Degrassi:TNG and wow...just wow. She's good. Really,really, really good. And I am so jealous. Her work is just so raw and real and I can't even describe how great I find her, especially her SpAshley fics.That's Spencer and Ashley to all you non South of Nowhere fans. They're just beautiful and moving and so heartbreakingly awesome. I bow to her awesomeness. And she's also my beta, which somehow makes me feel like I'm getting the better part of the deal.
