Author has written 19 stories for Naruto. 1/15/12 - Real life's catching up with me. Sorry for the update delays! :0 Current project: The "He was Captain" series, which started from my dissatisfaction with ANBU!Itachi portrayals in fanfiction. Its working title in all my Word Documents are "That Crazy Bunny in My Head," or TCBIMH... if that says anything about it. NAQ (Never Asked Questions) - i: Why do I keep writing fanfic with Inuzuka Hana in it? Because there's hardly anything on her in canon, I like the given parameters for her character, and there are a limited number of strong female characters in series canon; only Tsunade, Temari, and Kushina fall under that heading. There's a huge fanbase arguing in favor of Sakura, but to date, any convincingly admirable depiction of her that I've ever come across has been limited to the fandom. In canon, we have plenty of dirt on Sakura, and it's not flattering. - ii: (Or sort of implied by an anonymous/account-less reviewer) On the "He was Captain" series - The only "rules" are that 1) Itachi is or was ANBU captain in each at an age greater than thirteen. 2) Each scenario is a separate alternate universe, independent of any of the other scenarios; even the way characters behave may vary wildly. Hopefully each (unless it happens to be utter crack) will still be believable/within a range that's not too jarringly OOC. 3) No one said Itachi can't be ANBU captain even in a world where the Uchiha massacre happened. How will I accomplish this/attempt to accomplish this and fail miserably (maybe)? Stay tuned. :D Until then, please enjoy! - iii: My favorite character in Naruto is actually Hyuuga Neji. You'll notice that some of my older stories (like SOTY) are all squished together without breaks. Thanks, Fanfiction Formatting. If anyone feels like helping me out and adding them, please PM me. The Turkey City Lexicon (or this variation found at http://fritzfreiheit.com/wiki/SF_critique_lexicon) has been very helpful to me, so if you are curious, try consulting it as well. It points out common foibles in a humorous way (even if you, like me, don't really write Scifi). Pet Peeves: (Because where else would you put them?) Aside from the usual grammar/idiom problems - The “s/he’s just like so-and-so” phenomenon: blatant, self-acknowledged carbon copies of existing characters. At least try to be subtle about not bothering to imagine how this character ticks? Please? The "I love everybody and v.v. except for you" phenomenon: I hate it when some character joins an established (or authorially thrown together) group and instantly loves everybody (and is reciprocally loved) but clashes superficially with the romantic interest, until one of them grabs the other and mashes lips (superficial conflict continuation: optional). Blah. The "So Intrigued" phenomenon - That is, it is not enough for a fanfic to claim that person A suddenly got interested in person B because person B strolled by and did something tiny in a particular way. I'll buy into the premise if some other interesting, at least vaguely thought-out systemic difference is in place or B actually did something legitimately, arguably cool (just talking to someone or breathing does not count). Basically, if person A hits on B and his/her thought process is reducible to "Hmmmmm intriguing stalking timez! :D " it's a deal-breaker. Unless person A is just a stalker by nature, in which case I'm probably not interested in a fanfic starring person A. The lies! Don't say that a character is competent and worthy of respect when all of his/her actions show otherwise. "Improbably clumsy" does not equal "adorbs" (which is disgusting on its own merits). (A fandom-specific complaint: Whiny Sakura. Princess Sakura. And you tell me she's highly respected and attracts admiration from her team? Spare me.) But most of all, Man do I hate it when people in stories get along. | |||||||
