At present, I haven't written anything. This is mainly because I'm a perfectionist and my plots aren't up to my standards yet. However, my favorites lists are useful if you're the type of person who likes to avoid junk fics by following peoples' favorites lists. I'd especially like to recommend "The Open Door" by Academia Nut, "Culture Shock" by Ruskbyte, and anything by Ozzallos, Innortal, and nonjon. Those fics and authors seem to be able to brighten even the dullest days. (Though the metaphor wears thin since I generally prefer overcast skies) C. Jones, Calamity-Queen of Cordite, Cloud-Dreamer, and Kenko are also great, but they don't really release anything anymore. As a side-note, if you need a beta reader whose native language is english, try to get me interested in your fics. When I say I'm a perfectionist, I'm not kidding and I'm willing to beta-read any fic which I like. Just remember two things: First, I prefer character-driven fiction rather than event-driven fiction and physical combat bores me. (Even skipping fight scenes, the Dragonball Z manga bored me) Second, I'm a very strict critic regarding OOCness. For example, in Ranma ½, Nannichuan (spring of drowned man) will cure Ranma and Nabiki is a leech on the family finances if anything. Rumiko Takahashi has said so. In fact, she has said that the only characters she would call "evil" are Nabiki and Happosai. Oh, and Nodoka's only practiced skill with a katana is the beheading strike of a seppuku second. That has been ignored so much that it's even difficult to believably make it all an act. If you deviate from canon, it must be believable and the plot must provide something that feels like an explanation for the change. Note: I make an exception for Harry Potter stories. The latter books are so horribly broken that I sometimes wonder whether the average fanfic is more in-character. (A detailed and objective explanation of how the latter books are broken is available on request) Now that all that is out of the way, if you'd like to co-author one of the ideas that I'm too busy to plan out on my own, feel free to check out my list of ideas. | |||||||||
