My brother is a published author and my mother taught English for many years, so you could say that writing is in my blood. I first began at the tender age of 9, and wrote what could quite possibly be the worst attempt at an original fantasy ever. That made it to about four chapters. It is still around, as a reminder of where I've come from.
I am currently a college student in the state of Washington, studying English and Theatre, so that if by some accident my first cardboard box is destroyed, I can turn to my other career and buy a new one.
I have written a great deal of fanfiction, but nowhere near all of it is readable. My original work tends to be rather dark and disturbing, and by contrast my fanfiction is funny and bright. As a general rule. Mostly. Sometimes. Okay, so that's really not true. My work really follows no recognizable pattern, it comes and goes as Iris (my muse) sees fit.
If you notice anything at all in my work that is wrong or you think could be improved, please feel free to let me know, and I will correct it. Flames are also welcome, since they will be greeted with public mockery, and that improves publicity.
I tend to be very slow about my long works, which is why I do not post them as they are being written. Short stories or oneshots will go up with a decent alacricity, but I don't post the longer things until I'm about ten or fifteen chapters ahead of myself, and sometimes not even then. However, I will always finish what I start. It may take awhile, but I will get there.
My favorite fandoms are Narnia, The Lord of the Rings, Tamora Pierce's Tortall universe, The Phantom of the Opera, and the Bible, not necessarily in that order. Currently I am delving into the world of Narnia in great depth. (read: indulging my inner scholar)
My current 2 major projects are:
The Life of Lothloriel Ehyn (NOT final title), Lord of the Rings, the life story of my RP character/alter ego Lothloriel Elhyn,
and
Only a Year (tentative title) Narnia, a fic about the first year of the Pevensies reign and the many things that happen, including but not limited to: learning politics, Cor and Corin's birth, the first snowfall of that winter, and fighting a battle.
All of the Narnian oneshots posted tie in to Only a Year unless specified otherwise.
If you are interested in some great reading, try my beta shie1dmaidenofrohan for Lord of the Rings, JunoMagic for Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter, Gevasia for Fantasic Four and Phantom, and Almyra, Capegio or elecktrum for Narnia.
I'm not going to lie-- reviews are great. They are the only remuneration that fanfic authors receive, and there's just something so depressing about glancing over your story stats. For example, the current stats (as of 6/15/08) on Growing Older are: 755 hits, 34 favorites, 3 C2s, and 7 reviews. Now, sure, out of those 755, probably only around 325 are actual first-time, read-the-story-all-the-way-through hits. But still. Just saying. Some people just don't review. But if you liked my story enough to favorite it, or add it to your C2, it'd be nice to hear why.

YET ANOTHER NEW UPDATE
Happening to have a few spare moments, I went through and revised every Narnian piece I have up. Most are mere cosmetic changes--some formatting issues are fixed, a couple typos, or a word had been replaced and deleted here and there. However, two have actual content change--Running Free has minor content change that doesn't really change the fic, but you might like to check it out. Luce, Meridianus, Nox Noctis has MAJOR content change, nearly 200 words were added.
Watch this space for updates.
