"... I feel less like I made this story, and more like I was just lucky enough to be able to tell these characters' stories. My job is to accurately convey the characters' thought and feelings. So sometimes, the characters would move a lot better than I imagined, or actually say their lines for me. At times like that, I got really excited, and I felt so moved."

Part of the ending author notes in "Kare Kano" by Masami Tsuda

Writing

This sentence just struck me when I read it. It is exactly how I feel about writing (although Tsuda-san is actually describing her drawing here. Since my character tell me what to write, I have fewer writer blocks - nice! I update so slow mainly because I am just too busy and lazy (does those mix? Apparently...). So you can stab me with good reason, but just make sure I am whole enough to come back to life and go to college, which is constantly depriving me of life energy

Here is my introduction, if you are interested.

My name is Yumise/Arrowstar Lunar, Yu-Chan for short.

Thanks to the culture of Hong Kong, I am obsessed with mangas before I can remember. My current favorites are Fullmetal Alchemist, XXXHolic, Fruit Basket, Kare Kano, Vampire Knight, Far Away from Home, Godchild, Alice Academy, and D. Grayman. I loves stories with a good mix of everything (romance, humor, adventure, you get the idea!)

I prefer literature (including mangas) with a dip of philosophical feeling to it as well. I am a very happy and simplistic person, but for some reason I enjoy really deep, mature, dark, and even morbid works. (?) I'm not really one for tragedy though. I particularly enjoy stories with a bittersweet taste. It's like the wheel of fortune, nothing is ever forever happy or sad, but that's what makes life interesting, isn't it?

It has come to my attention that I tends to write toward to that direction also. (A lot of my short story in my sketchbook is somewhat... depressing?)

I dislike stories that bashes characters. The character they bash become out of character and 2D, it's boring - which makes the writer's writing boring too. It's like a dark spot in a very nice painting - you can't help look at it, and it ruins the whole effect!! Human are dynamic - 3D, not just good and evil.

You don't like that character, so you only analysis the others = You don't like carrots, so you only eat the other parts of the meal. They may as well go make a original story if the only thing they use is the name, look, and surface character.

Just cause they seem irritating to one person doesn't mean they don't have a inner thought and human motivation that can increase the complexity and richness of the writer's story. I respect writers that can fill each part of their story with complexity and interest, and show a good understanding of human perspective. Many of my favorite authors have make like characters that commonly hated by others - it's what makes their writing brilliant for me. They have see what no one see - they have done the impossible.

More importantly, a writer's writing often reflects their inner character and emotion. An angry writer, creates angry writings. It makes their work unpleasant to read. It's one thing to be sarcastic and calmly critic human flaws, but an angry writing specifically targeted at a fictional character creates a whole entirely different atmosphere.

Hetero? Yaoi??: The answer is - Neither. I believe in reincarnation and spirit forms. I also believe that love comes from soul, not by gender. In fact, I think it is profane that people judge love by physical forms. I am neither a homophobia, hetero-phobia (Yes, it exist), hetero-lover, or yaoi fan - in fanfiction or in real life. If the writer is good and knows how to pair people, then I will read and appreciate their story. In real life, some of the nicest and most cool people I know is homosexual or bi. In fact, those who are not exclusively hetero is often so much more mature, because they went through so much and has learnt to accept their self and also learnt to truly (instead of duty as a good human, follow social standard of niceness, or pitiness) accept differences in people. I read both shonen and shoujo manga and have equal liking for male and female characters.

While I do have pairing preferences, I don't stick to them. Many story with pairing I like are horribly written. On the other hand, there are stories that I like even though it is not about my prefer pairing - now that's a good writer's work! I appreciate talents - if a story is well-written, then I like it. If it's written terribly - forget it. This is also why I think what I call "pairing war" is silly, and I avoid reading writers that does that.

Continue on... I also like to draw, but has yet to post them up yet. Part of the reason is because I don't like the sound of scanners (Hair-dryer and vacuum also drives me nuts. We didn't need them before! Why do they hunt us!?)

You have to read the first word, then the fifth, then the second, then the sixth, etc. Until you get to every twentieth word, in which case you work out the kanji’s alphabetisation and put it backwards.
