How I get started in fan-fiction seems to be that I either get really enthusiastic about a game (like Freelancer), or I look for fanfics about novels/movies that I like a lot. And sometimes I worry that I'm writing total crap. Who says authors lack insecurities?

What I do when I'm not writing fanfics is being a harried graduate student at university trying to do chemistry and nuclear science. :-)

I don't know if someone else has already done this, so I made an archive for any Harry Potter fic I find that has Harry being put into Ravenclaw. As I have done Sorting Hat tests and generally come out Ravenclaw I am a bit partial to that house. ;-) So, if you have a fic that features a Ravenclaw Harry don't hesitate to ask me to put it into the archive. :)

About the stories I've written:

Unplanned Journey - I started writing this because I wanted to use an idea I'd had kicking around for a while - the idea of time travel back to the 1960s, and also because the time-travel fics I did see in the Outsiders section were, in my humble opinion, sorely needing improvement. I set out, essentially, to write one that was a bit more believable, if you can suspend disbelief long enough to accept the initial premise.

This fic is in the process of being rewritten and the old version has been chopped. I am replacing it with a new one under the same name.

Twilight's End - I thought about what would happen if you projected one possible sequence of events after the ending of the book. There are many good stories involving Ponyboy being in middle age or old age, and one or two involving Sodapop but none involved Darry. So, this was my brainwave. Complete.

Family Ties - xocrazililkelox gave me this plot bunny, in which Angela Shepard will learn things about herself.

The Moth and the Flame - Just some good ol' slash writing. Complete.

On the Wrong Side - Inspired by Misfit Greaser's story, "A Purpose for Being", and the friendship that develops between Ponyboy and Nicholas, I got permission to use his OC to create a slash AU version of that fic. While events and elements will be common to it, I have put my own twist on things and it will begin to diverge more as time goes on.

Printing the Way to Destruction - This story seriously bends history, both with respect to our "real" history, and also the book's canon. (Since obviously events in the one-shot diverge from the book's events) Complete.

A Most Unusual Case - Asimov/Harry Potter crossover fic. I may restructure it later so I can get more chapters out of it, but for now, it's essentially a two-parter. :)

Vengeance Will Be Mine - A post-HBP Dark!Harry fic who goes after Death Eaters. This will be AU to TDH with respect to the Horcruxes but will otherwise use some of TDH canon particularly with regard to Snape.

Shifting Perceptions - My foray into Marauder-Era fanfic, asking, "What if Dumbledore began intervening personally when it became clear that enmity between students could cause problems?" Will be canon compliant with all seven books insofar as what can be established prior to 1971, including JKR interviews re Albus Dumbledore and Gellert Grindelwald.

A Knut to Start the Revolution - I got a plot bunny from Misato on fictionalley and wanted to run with it. The "team" of Harry Potter and Hermione Granger is modelled loosely on the "team" of Tommy Douglas and Clarence Fines, who ran Saskatchewan for fifteen years. However, some of Harry's more bombastic populist rhetoric is modelled from people like FDR, Huey Long and Hugo Chavez. :) This fic will incorporate HBP and TDH canon in entirety, including where the Horcruxes are.

This fic is being restructured and is being reposted under the same name.

Erasing Time's Tracks - Just what would Draco Malfoy do if he had the chance to undo the screw-ups and bad choices in his life that led to him realizing he's stuck in a no-win situation after Dumbledore's death? Some things to ponder - How close or far away will he try to be as far as Harry Potter goes? Will he actively work to assist Harry, or simply stay on the sidelines, so to speak?

I'll tackle those as the fic progresses. :-) Additionally, I plan to incorporate newly-developed Deathly Hallows canon into the fic insofar as it pertains to events prior to 1991 - e.g. Snape's Unbreakable Vow to Lily can be placed in the context of his love-from-afar that has been canonically established.

This fic has been placed on Schnoogle. However, new chapters will go here first, and there may be delays in getting the Schnoogle version updated.

Owl Tracks - Inspired by an owl's eye view fic I read on Schnoogle, I decided to write a parallel Hedwig's perspective of the events in "Erasing". :)

Rheinland's Redemption - I play Freelancer off and on, and I've enjoyed the rich political subtext of the game particularly as it makes riffs on today's political and economic world (when a game has the "notorious wanted criminal" Sean Ashcroft... ;-) ). Richard the pedantic's story was what helped me get started on a way to write what I thought would be a natural outgrowth of the evolving context of events in the Freelancer storyline. Rheinland (essentially a composite of Germany) is economically weak and militarily exhausted after unsuccessful wars and political mismanagement. The Bundschuh are a populist movement that seeks to regain dominance over Rheinland as they did a hundred years before the game's "present day".

Reflections on a Mission - I liked the Bourne Supremacy even better than the Bourne Identity (the book AND the movie), and I was inspired by the snippet of Bourne's memory involving Alexander Conklin and his first mission. Conklin from the books is quite a fascinating person in his own way. Thus, this one-shot.
