More Than Just the Basics: An Introduction to Kowaretanism
'Ullo there.
I hate Mary-Sues.Yes, yes, you've found another one of the dreaded Cult of Sue-Hate. We grow larger every week. We hope to conquer the world with our burning, all-consuming hate. Soon we'll have taken over small portions of the Internet located in the Cape of Common Sense. Hate may, perhaps, be too strong a word, as I believe tht all of them can be turned into a legitimate OC with some work.
I love well-written OCs. People ask how I could love OCs if I hate Mary-Sues and the answer is simply that an OC is not a Mary-Sue. There's actually more to it than that, but they tell me that nobody really cares. I'm probably delusional anyway.
I like shonen-ai and shoujo-ai and have been currently looking for some good fics--maybe multi-chaptered in length but doesn't have the pairing as the main reason for the story. If anyone has a good fic, feel free to send me a PM and I'll love you for it.
I like heterosexual and crack pairings too. I'm just like that. Generally, I think, I'm more attracted to writing style, plot, creativity, than the actual pairing in a fic. Does this make me a bad fanfiction writer?
When they're well-written, I like crossovers. I suppose that's another blasphemous aspect to me. Liking things that are well-written.
I like a bit of everything.
I hate bashing, though. With a passion. Like fire. Or acid. Or something that burns but never really stops. I hate bashing... with my hate.

Why is Kowareta so OMG!MEAN! when she reviews people?
I prefer the term honest. Also, I do not flame. I give constructive criticism where I see fit. It is important for a writer to distance himself or herself from one's work and be able to look at it objectively. If you cannot bear the thought that someone might express disapproval of your fic, whether warranted or not, you should post them someplace where they would not be subject to feedback.
It is not anyone's responsibility to praise you to the rafters, especially for nothing. Readers do not exist solely to prop your feeble ego. All stories placed in a public venue are fair game. All stories published in a venue designed to encourage response is subject to whatever the reviewer wishes to say. To allow only one kind of response is hypocritical.
Despite what fanfiction has taught you, grammar, spelling, and punctuation are important and often times necessary tools for writing. So is a plot. I don't consider "Girl appears in YYH world and falls in love with Hiei" a plot.
If you don't like, don't read!

Not really. I'll read just about any pairing and squee and gush over it as long as it's well-written. There is no pairing out there that is my favorite, nor any pairing out there that I desire to hate. Though, to be honest, I prefer genfic the most.
